A series of stocks were suddenly sold off in the first session of the week on June 24.
The sharp decline in the first session of the week pushed the VN-Index through the mid-term support zone at 1,255 - 1,260 points and was beyond the forecast of securities companies. Moreover, the sharp decline of the market was quite surprising when there was not much negative information domestically or internationally. Even at the beginning of the session, the decline of many stocks was quite mild, but near the end of the morning session, selling pressure increased sharply and concentrated on blue-chip stocks. At the close of the market, of all 30 stocks in the VN30 basket on the HOSE, only POW maintained green and SAB stopped at the reference level. The remaining 28 blue-chip stocks plummeted, including some that strongly affected the general index such as FPT, GVR, BCM, PLX, MWG, MSN, STB, VPB...
In addition to the banking group with most codes in the VN30 basket, the securities group was also sold heavily with many codes falling to the limit. Those are CTS, BSI, VDS, TVS all hitting the floor. The remaining codes also plunged from over 3 - 4%... and only VND had a glimmer of green but the increase was insignificant.
Foreign investors continued their streak of net selling. In the whole market, foreign investors net sold more than VND920 billion. However, domestic cash flow remained strong as stocks were sold heavily, increasing market liquidity by about 50% compared to the average trading value last week. The total trading value of the whole market reached more than VND36,807 billion, equivalent to nearly USD1.45 billion.
