After a sharp decline, investors' pessimism was evident as selling pressure increased right from the opening, causing the market to be submerged in red, with the VN-Index at one point returning to 1,210 points.
Selling pressure prevailed across all sectors. The telecommunications sector continued to lead the decline, followed by energy. After a breakout session, VCB weighed on the index again, taking away more than 3 points.
At the end of the morning session on August 2, VN-Index decreased by 13.21 points, equivalent to 1.08% to 1,213.75 points. The entire floor had 72 stocks increasing and 347 stocks decreasing.

In the afternoon session, the buyers suddenly entered the game, helping the VN-Index turn around, increase points and close at the highest level of the day.
At the end of the trading session on August 2, VN-Index increased by 9.64 points, equivalent to 0.79% to 1,226.96 points. The entire floor had 267 stocks increasing, 160 stocks decreasing, and 72 stocks remaining unchanged.
HNX-Index increased by 2.33 points to 231.56 points. The entire floor had 94 stocks increasing, 71 stocks decreasing and 53 stocks remaining unchanged. UPCoM-Index increased by 0.25 points to 93.77 points.
The banking group led the market, notably BID, TCB, MBB, SSB, VPB with a total contribution of 3.5 points, in which BID led the increase with a contribution of 1.3 points. Meanwhile, VCB led the decrease when taking away more than 2.7 points; at the end of the session, this code decreased by 2.21% to 88,700 VND/share.
Green also dominated the chemical group, in which the big GVR increased by 3.03% to VND32,350/share and contributed nearly 1 point to the index. In the industry, there were only a few stocks that decreased in points such as RDP, DRI, ABS, LTG.
The steel group was also less negative, HPG increased by 2.06% to VND27,250/share and contributed 0.9 points to the market. HSG, NKG, TVN, VGS codes also ended the session in green.
Vietnam Airlines' HVN stock took investors from one surprise to another, when today's session this code increased to the ceiling price of 22,050 VND/share and contributed 0.8 points to the market.

The total order matching value in today's session was VND18,856 billion, down 30% compared to yesterday, of which the order matching value on the HoSE floor reached VND16,387 billion. In the VN30 group, liquidity reached VND8,414 billion.
Foreign investors net bought for the second consecutive session with a value of 743 billion VND today, of which this group disbursed 2,075 billion VND and sold 1,331 billion VND.
