On the afternoon of November 7, at the workshop “Global semiconductor equipment supply chain: Opportunities for Vietnam's manufacturing industry”, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, expressed optimism about the future of Vietnam's semiconductor industry and hoped that the country would become a reliable partner in the global semiconductor manufacturing supply chain.
The workshop was organized by the National Innovation Center (NIC) in collaboration with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Vietnam and the Semiconductor Association.
The workshop was attended by leaders of major corporations and organizations in the world in the semiconductor field such as Brainport Industries, Sioux, Besi, Advantest, Lam Research, Soitec... along with the participation of many components in the semiconductor industry production ecosystem such as the Vietnam Association of Supporting Industries (VASI), universities, vocational training institutions, manufacturing enterprises, financial and investment organizations, and domestic and foreign experts.
This is not only a forum to discuss the globalization trend in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, but also to discuss opportunities and demonstrate Vietnam's efforts in participating in the semiconductor industry, especially in the semiconductor manufacturing value chain.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam emphasized the importance of the semiconductor industry to the sustainable development of Vietnam's economy.
Regarding the government's determination, the Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment said that Vietnam has been promoting cooperation in developing the semiconductor industry with developed countries and economies in the world.
Through expanding cooperation with prestigious semiconductor partners in the world, the country has been implementing the motto "if you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together", gradually accompanying partners and businesses to participate in the semiconductor industry's production supply chain.
"Vietnam has gathered the conditions to be ready to welcome cooperation opportunities with businesses and investors from all over the world in the semiconductor industry," said Mr. Tam.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kees van Baar, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam, said that the semiconductor equipment manufacturing supply chain is very large with the participation of many large and small enterprises around the world in many segments.
The Ambassador said: "Vietnam can fully utilize and promote its existing supporting industry to participate more deeply in this value chain. Equipment manufacturing is the mainstay of the Dutch semiconductor industry. We are ready to cooperate with Vietnam to contribute to the overall development of the global semiconductor industry."
In the context of the booming global semiconductor industry, Vietnam is expected to become a center for supplying raw materials, components, and assemblies for the semiconductor equipment manufacturing industry, thereby moving deeper into the value chain of the global semiconductor equipment industry.
With an abundant human resource base and competitive production costs, Vietnam is capable of exploiting these opportunities to grow strongly.

The workshop “Global Semiconductor Supply Chain: Opportunities for Vietnam's Manufacturing Industry” took place with two discussion sessions.
The first panel discussion with the theme “Opportunities for Vietnam in the global semiconductor equipment supply chain” attracted much attention with sharp analysis of development trends and participants in the global semiconductor equipment manufacturing industry.
At this session, speakers stated that building a support ecosystem for the semiconductor industry, especially in equipment manufacturing, is extremely necessary. Connection and cooperation between domestic and foreign enterprises will be a key factor in improving the competitiveness and sustainable development of Vietnamese enterprises when participating in this value chain.
The second panel focused on preparing human resources for the semiconductor manufacturing industry.
At the end of the workshop, delegates agreed that developing high-quality human resources in the semiconductor equipment field is a long-term process, requiring the efforts and cooperation of many stakeholders.
Vietnam needs to prepare high-quality human resources, including specialized engineers and skilled workers, to meet the specific requirements of this industry.
The workshop ended with strong commitments from the participants to continue promoting cooperation in developing the supply chain, investing in training and research, and developing high-quality human resources. From there, Vietnam will become an important link in the global semiconductor equipment supply chain, contributing to the overall development of the world semiconductor industry.
