In the Vietnamese market, sales-related positions are also in the top 3 positions with high recruitment demand from businesses.

Human resource solutions consulting firm Glints and investment fund Monk's Hill Ventures (MHV) have just released a detailed analysis report on recruitment trends and corporate salary data. The data was surveyed with more than 10,000 points from 183 senior staff and founders and 72 interviews with startup founders from Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and Taiwan.

Accordingly, salaries from startups will cool down in 2023, with junior engineers seeing the biggest drop of 6%. In the Vietnamese market, the position with the biggest drop in salary is Back-end Developer with a decrease of up to 8.2%. The cause of this decrease comes from the surplus of human resources in the market, the impact of waves of cuts and restructuring during the general economic downturn. However, there are still many positions that have seen salary growth compared to the same period last year, such as a 2-3% increase for Data Engineer and Full Stack Developer positions.

Salaries in business development and sales increased sharply with increases of up to 20%. Salaries in revenue-generating positions continued to grow well, typically in Singapore with an average salary increase of more than 14%. In the Vietnamese market, sales-related positions are also in the top 3 positions with high recruitment demand from businesses, reflecting the high focus on revenue generation of Southeast Asian businesses in 2024. For non-tech positions, positions in marketing and branding are the industry groups with the highest salary declines with figures of 12.5% ​​and 8.8% respectively.

Despite the backdrop of layoffs, pay cuts and redundancies, demand for tech talent remains high across markets. The number of applicants for junior-level positions has increased due to recent layoffs in the tech industry, particularly in the engineering sector.

Ms. Jessica Le, CEO of Glints Vietnam, commented: "Over the past year, Vietnamese startups have continued to adapt to the challenges of the general market difficulties. They have restructured their apparatus, becoming more streamlined and efficient. We predict that the demand for technology recruitment in Vietnam will continue to be maintained, from domestic enterprises as well as foreign markets such as Singapore and Japan."

This development is also consistent with the report of the TopCV recruitment company. Accordingly, 75.8% of business representatives participating in the survey said that their businesses have a need to recruit new employees this year. The expected increase in this context may come from increasing the recruitment rate for "human resource-hungry" industries such as business, sales, IT - software... to serve the goal of promoting business.

According to TopCV, marketing/communication/advertising, business/sales and IT - software are the 3 groups of industries with the largest labor supply according to surveys and actual data, compiled on the TopCV system. Of which, business and sales are the groups of industries with the most recruitment but are also considered the most difficult to recruit. IT - software is the group of industries with a large recruitment demand, but is considered not a difficult position to recruit, especially for the junior level (internship).
