At the same time, convenient and quick connection between districts, major centers or regional links, especially passing through areas with many complex traffic intersections.
Therefore, the solution of building an elevated road is one of the effective solutions to reduce traffic jams and congestion in Ho Chi Minh City at the present time.
Mr. Dung added that the Department of Transport is studying 5 BOT projects under the specific mechanism of Resolution No. 98/2023/QH15.

Including research on the construction of elevated roads for the following projects: Upgrading and expanding National Highway 13 (from Binh Trieu Bridge to Binh Duong Provincial Border); Upgrading and expanding National Highway 1 (from Kinh Duong Vuong Street to Long An Provincial Border); Upgrading and renovating National Highway 22 (from An Suong Intersection to Ring Road 3); Upgrading the North-South axis road, from Nguyen Van Linh Street to Ben Luc Long Thanh Expressway; Building Binh Tien Bridge and Road (from Pham Van Chi Street to Nguyen Van Linh Street).
The selected projects on existing routes ( National Highway 13, National Highway 1, National Highway 22, North-South axis, Binh Tien bridge and road) are key traffic routes, gateways to the city, with regional connectivity;
In the past, it was always overloaded and congested, but it could not be upgraded or expanded due to the unbalanced public investment capital.
Mr. Dung commented that when completed, these projects will expand the city's gateway traffic axis to enhance traffic connections and goods circulation between Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of the Southeast and Mekong Delta regions (including the expansion project of National Highway 1, National Highway 13, National Highway 22).
In particular, creating a vital axis connecting the expanding National Highway 50, Ring Road 3, Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, helping to remove traffic congestion, opening up urban development space for the southern area of the city (Binh Tien bridge and road construction project, upgrading the North - South axis road) contributes to meeting the traffic needs of the people, socio-economic development, and national defense and security of the city.
