A leader of the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation confirmed that Tran Ha Vi will be banned from competing for 2 years due to testing positive for banned substances. The penalty will be effective until November 15, 2025. The leader added that Ha Vi used drugs to treat her illness without reporting it.
Previously, the International Testing Agency (ITA) website reported that Tran Ha Vi's test sample at the Asian Championships in Mongolia last September tested positive for banned substances such as hydrochlorothiazide, chlorothiazide, amiloride and sibutramine. These are diuretics and stimulants on the World Anti-Doping Agency's banned list.
Tran Ha Vi shined at SEA Games 32 with a gold medal in women's singles.
In addition to being banned from competing, all of Tran Ha Vi's achievements from September 16, 2023 onwards will be voided. She will be allowed to return before the 32nd SEA Games. The Southeast Asian Games will take place from December 9-20, 2025.
Tran Ha Vi is a student of Physical Education K56, Sports Training major at Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports. In her first SEA Games participation in 2022, she won a Silver Medal, only 0.05 points behind the Thai athlete.
Tran Ha Vi showed her talent for Aerobics early on. At the age of 14, she won a Gold Medal at the World Championship held in Tokyo in 2016.
At the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia, the athlete born in 2002 and the Vietnam Aerobics team dominated the competition floor. With a score of 18.36 points in the women's singles, Tran Ha Vi brought home the Gold Medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation.
