In order to achieve the goal of sustainable development, Quang Ninh province has identified environmental protection as one of the top requirements. Through the issuance of many directives, resolutions , and practical and specific solutions and actions, the province's environmental protection has achieved many positive results, contributing to the transformation of the growth model from "brown" to "green" , towards a sustainable green economy .
Recognizing the challenges and conflicts between coal mining and tourism and service development, in recent times, Quang Ninh province and the coal industry have implemented many solutions to improve the work. Environmental protection. The focus is on restoring mine waste dumps, investing in embankments and dams to block waste dumps; investing in conveyor belts to replace coal transportation by cars, misting systems to suppress dust; mine wastewater treatment plants, and stopping production facilities near residential areas. Particularly for tree planting to cover mine waste dumps, every year the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV) plants 220-230 hectares of trees at locations where mining and dumping have ended. Tree planting and afforestation are increasingly strategic, both ensuring economic development, improving the quality of life, and contributing to preserving a sustainable living environment and responding to climate change. In 2024 alone, TKV plans to plant about 200 hectares of trees in the entire Quang Ninh province.
Mr. Ta Thanh Liem (Area 1A, Quang Hanh Ward, Cam Pha City) said: Thanks to the attention of the province and the coal industry in environmental protection, the environment in Cam Pha City has now improved a lot compared to before. This helps people have a better quality of life.
Also to improve environmental protection, since 2017, the Provincial Party Committee has issued and resolutely directed the implementation of Directive No. 18-CT/TU on strengthening the management of exploitation, protection and development of aquatic resources. Thanks to that, aquatic resources and ecological environment in some regularly protected areas have recovered positively.
Quang Ninh is also the pioneer province in the country to issue local technical regulations on floating materials in aquaculture, with the goal of replacing styrofoam buoys with HDPE floating materials in aquaculture activities in coastal localities, affirming the province's determination in protecting the marine environment associated with increasing the value and output of the aquaculture sector.
Then, on September 26, 2022, the Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 10-NQ/TU on strengthening the Party's leadership in resource management, environmental protection, natural disaster prevention and mitigation, climate change response, and ensuring water security in the 2022-2023 period. This is a strategic Resolution, demonstrating the high political determination of the Provincial Party Committee and the aspirations of the people of the whole province not only during the term, but also as an orientation in the following period. The implementation of the Resolution is also of particular importance, demonstrating the consistent viewpoint of the province, which is: Improving the quality of life of the people is the top priority, the core goal, aiming for people to enjoy environmental quality on par with advanced countries in the world.
With the participation of the entire political system, especially the awareness and sense of responsibility for environmental protection of people, organizations and businesses has been raised, contributing to Quang Ninh being at the top of the national PCI for 7 consecutive years and topping the Provincial Green Index PGI in 2023 with 26 points.

Focus on building, perfecting, adjusting and supplementing policy mechanisms; mobilizing resources, promoting innovation, developing science and technology; exploiting, using and protecting water resources; promoting circular economy, developing renewable energy; improving the quality of communication and education to raise awareness.
With creative thinking, drastic and innovative ways of working in environmental protection, it will create a solid foundation for Quang Ninh to continue to develop comprehensively, becoming a modern service and industrial province, one of the dynamic and comprehensive development centers of the North.
