Can Tho Giao Hang Tiet Kiem has just contributed an additional 300 million VND, bringing the total number of new bridges built with the Hope Fund to 9 projects in three years.
On the morning of March 22, representatives of the Hope Fund and the Saving Delivery Joint Stock Company started construction of the 367 Hope Bridge (formerly known as the Sau Nghe Bridge) in Tan Quoi Hamlet, Tan Hung Ward, Thot Not. Sau Nghe Bridge was built in 2000 with contributions from benefactors, helping to connect the two banks of the canal. However, after 23 years, the current state of the bridge is narrow and steep, peeling, the railings are rusty with many broken sections, causing difficulties and unsafety for people to pass through, not meeting the economic development of the locality and the increasing number of vehicles.
Mr. Dang Ba Dung, 72 years old, in Tan Hung ward, said: "The new bridge is the wish of the people living in the surrounding area. The ambulances transporting patients to other hospitals or agricultural products will be more convenient when the new bridge is built. I will mobilize the people to participate in contributing and supporting the construction team to complete the bridge soon."
The new bridge is expected to be 26m long, about 4m-4m3 wide, with a reduced slope to ensure safety for vehicles, serving more than 460 households traveling every day. The project has a total cost of 485 million VND, of which the Hope Fund and the Saving Delivery Joint Stock Company support 135 million VND, the rest is matched by the locality.

In 2022 - 2023, this transport company has accompanied the construction of 6 Hope bridges in Dong Thap, Can Tho, and Bac Lieu. A representative of Giao Hang Tiet Kiem Joint Stock Company shared: "When accompanying the Hope Fund to build new bridges, we understand that building more new bridges means completing local infrastructure, creating opportunities for economic development and changing the lives of tens of thousands of local people. At the same time, Giao Hang Tiet Kiem employees can use them to transport goods to people in the easiest and fastest way".
Previously, on March 21, the Hope Fund coordinated to inaugurate 11 Hope bridges and start construction of 7 bridges in Sa Dec city, Lai Vung district, Chau Thanh district, Dong Thap province. The 18 projects were designed and built with reinforced concrete, 25-40m long, 3.5-4m wide. The total cost of building the bridges was over 10.6 billion VND. Of which, the Hope Fund sponsored nearly 2 billion VND.
These activities are part of the "Helping Children Go to School" program implemented by the Hope Foundation since 2018, aiming to improve traffic infrastructure, improve the quality of life for people and ensure the safety of children going to school in river areas. To date, the program has built more than 370 new concrete bridges in the Mekong Delta provinces. To join the program, readers can see more information and join here.
