Previously, on June 12, 2023, the Department of Drug and Crime Prevention (PCMT&TP), the Provincial Border Guard Command presided over and coordinated with functional forces to successfully combat Project DB523p, arresting 2 subjects and seizing 120,000 synthetic drug pills. Based on the results of the fight against Project DB523p and the activities of the remaining subjects in the project, the PCMT&TP Department reported and asked for direction from the Provincial Border Guard Command on developing a plan to combat Project DB523p phase 2 to continue to combat and dismantle the remaining subjects in the drug trafficking and illegal transportation of large quantities of drugs from Laos to Dien Bien and then to Lao Cai for consumption.
By professional measures, it was determined that from July 26 to August 2, the subjects would transport large quantities of drugs from Laos to Na Khoang village, Muong Nha commune (Dien Bien district) and then take them to Lao Cai for consumption . The PCMT&TP Department coordinated with functional forces to deploy an ambush. At 8:00 p.m. on July 31, a subject was discovered wearing a backpack walking from Pha Thanh village to Na Khoang village with many suspicious signs. The anti -crime force simultaneously approached, controlled, and arrested the subject . The seized evidence included 11 kg of synthetic drugs in the form of rocks, 16 synthetic drug cakes (96,000 pills), 1 phone, and 1 walkie-talkie . The subject confessed to being Lau A Ly (born in 1994, Mong ethnic group, residing in Na Khoang village, Muong Nha commune).
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Thanh Do praised the excellent achievements of the Special Task Force in the fight against drug crimes, contributing to maintaining security and order, and border security. He suggested that in the coming time, the Provincial Border Guard continue to strictly implement the guidelines and policies of the Party, the State, the Border Guard Command and the province on the prevention of all types of crimes, especially drug crimes. Synchronously deploy border protection measures, especially reconnaissance work to grasp the internal and external border situation to proactively develop plans and take effective measures to fight against drug crimes. Step up propaganda and mobilization work to mobilize people to clearly understand the tricks of drug criminals , the harms of drug trafficking for hire , and at the same time participate in denouncing criminals, maintaining security and order in border areas.
