(CLO) A Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) struck the roof of a police barracks in Chechnya, Russia early Thursday morning, injuring four people, according to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. This was the second attack this week.
“The drone exploded in the air, damaging the roof and breaking the windows,” Mr Kadyrov said on the Telegram messaging app about the incident. “The falling debris caused a small fire, which was quickly extinguished.”

Four members of the base’s guard unit were slightly injured. A video posted by Kadyrov showed broken windows. Kadyrov is a strong supporter of Moscow’s war and has sent his forces to Ukraine to fight alongside Russian troops.
Last week, Kadyrov also announced that a UAV had struck the roof of a police facility, although it was unclear whether this was the same building.
In October, the roof of a military training center in the Chechen city of Gudermes was set on fire in a Ukrainian drone attack, in what appeared to be the first attack on Chechnya since the war began in February 2022.
Other reports from local and international sources say that Ukrainian UAV attacks against targets in Russia have increased, especially after Russia expanded its attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure.
Chechnya under Kadyrov's leadership has become one of the most loyal regions to Russian President Putin, providing forces for the war in Ukraine, making the region a potential target for retaliatory actions from Ukraine.
Although Chechnya is not located near the Ukrainian border, the presence of Chechen units in the war makes it part of this conflict.
