(Dan Tri) - Realizing the potential of an abundant and well-trained labor force in Vietnam, the UAE Minister of Human Resources affirmed that the country is ready to listen and adjust policies to attract Vietnamese workers.
This message was emphasized by UAE Minister of Human Resources Abdulrahman Abdulmannan Al-Awar during a bilateral meeting with Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting took place within the framework of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to the UAE.

The two Ministers agreed to continue promoting multifaceted cooperation between the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam and the Ministry of Human Resources of the UAE in the coming time. Informing his counterpart about the Vietnamese labor situation, especially the needs of the domestic labor market and other markets such as Japan, Korea, Germany, Australia, etc., Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said that Vietnamese human resources have great potential and outstanding advantages. Stating the requirements on salary and working conditions that businesses need to meet, the Minister suggested that the UAE review and adjust policies to minimize procedures and create the most favorable conditions for Vietnamese workers when working in this country.

In a frank exchange, the two Ministers objectively recognized and assessed the achievements and limitations in labor cooperation between the two countries in recent times. In particular, the number of Vietnamese workers working in the UAE has not yet met the needs and potential of both sides. In recent years, an average of about 150,000 Vietnamese workers have gone to work abroad each year, but the number of workers going to work in the UAE remains modest, although the UAE has a need to receive a large number of foreign workers.

Meanwhile, Vietnam has abundant human resources, trained in basic technical expertise, ready to meet the UAE's human resource needs in the fields that the other side needs. Minister Abdulrahman Abdulmannan Al-Awar highly agreed with the contents mentioned by Minister Dao Ngoc Dung. He affirmed that the UAE is ready to listen and make the greatest efforts in reviewing and adjusting regulations and policies on receiving, managing and using labor. In particular, the Minister said that he is ready to adjust salary, bonus, treatment and care regimes for workers, in order to effectively attract Vietnamese workers to work in the UAE. In the Joint Statement between Vietnam and the UAE on upgrading the relationship between the two countries to a Comprehensive Partnership, the content of cooperation on human resources is also emphasized. The two sides pledged to effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of human resources, promote recruitment efforts, vocational skills training, foreign languages, and disseminate UAE laws and culture to Vietnamese workers, especially high-quality workers working in the UAE or in countries/territories where UAE enterprises have investment projects or are contracted for construction works.

The UAE and Vietnam established diplomatic relations in 1993. Vietnam began sending workers to work in the UAE two years later. During the period 2004-2007, the number of Vietnamese workers in the UAE was about 10,000. At the end of 2023, the Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the UAE Ministry of Human Resources signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of human resources. In May 2023, the Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAE informed that after a working session with the UAE Minister of Human Resources, the UAE side said that the UAE President wanted to receive and increase the number of Vietnamese workers in the UAE to 100,000 people in many fields and professions. The UAE Ministry of Human Resources highly appreciates Vietnamese workers, considering the Vietnamese community in the UAE as a force actively contributing to the country's socio-economic development. In August this year, the UAE Minister of State for Trade led a delegation to Vietnam and had a working session with leaders of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, stating that the UAE is ready to receive about 50,000 Vietnamese workers in the coming time. According to statistics from the Vietnamese Embassy in the UAE, there are currently about 4,500 Vietnamese workers living and working in the UAE, mainly in construction, mechanics, restaurant and hotel services, beauty care, etc. Of which, the number of workers going through businesses providing services to send workers to work abroad is about 3,000 people.
