In a phone call with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam supports and is ready to participate in mediation efforts to seek a long-term peaceful solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
On the afternoon of February 17, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son had a phone call with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
The phone call took place at the request of the Ukrainian side, in which the Ukrainian Foreign Minister affirmed that his country values friendship and cooperation with Vietnam and welcomes Vietnam's stance on the Russia- Ukraine conflict.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son affirmed that Vietnam is a friend of Russia and Ukraine. Vietnam consistently maintains a balanced and objective stance in the Russia- Ukraine conflict.
He stressed that all disputes need to be resolved by peaceful means, in accordance with the fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.
Vietnam supports and stands ready to participate in the mediation efforts of the international community to seek a lasting peaceful solution to the conflict with the participation of all relevant parties.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha agreed to maintain contact and exchange delegations at all levels and soon conduct political consultations at the Deputy Foreign Minister level.
