(NLDO) - The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the City Police to direct traffic police units to correct posture, style, communication culture, and behavior when performing official duties.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a document requesting the City Police and the Department of Information and Communications to strengthen the effectiveness of implementing Decree 168/2024.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, after more than 1 month of implementing Decree 168, the traffic order and safety situation in the country in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular has had many clear changes. Traffic accidents have decreased in all 3 criteria; fines have decreased compared to the previous month. People have raised their awareness and sense of responsibility in strictly following traffic laws.
However, the increase in administrative fines while there was not timely and synchronous upgrading of traffic infrastructure at the beginning of the application of Decree 168 also created mixed opinions on social networks.

Disobeying orders and resisting officers on duty still occur. In particular, there are cases where traffic police officers have substandard behavior, violating regulations on posture, style, communication culture and behavior while performing their duties.
Taking advantage of the above situation, foreign reactionary organizations and personal pages of some political opponents have distorted the truth, spread false information, created bad information and public opinion, affecting the implementation of Decree 168.
Therefore, to continue to deploy and enhance the effectiveness of the implementation of Decree 168 and the Road Law, the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the City Police to direct the Traffic Police units to correct their posture, style, communication culture, and behavior when performing official duties. Strictly comply with the regulations, work procedures and orders of the People's Police during the performance of duties.
"Strictly prohibit and severely handle the abuse of assigned tasks for personal gain, harassment, and ignoring violations. The detection and handling of violations must be objective, impartial, and based on the correct case and violation, and the handling of violations that cause traffic accidents must be strengthened" - the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee directed.
Ho Chi Minh City Police must also coordinate with relevant agencies and units to promptly detect, prevent, and delete content, websites, links, associations, groups, and personal accounts on cyberspace that distort the truth, spread false information, and affect the implementation of Decree 168. Thereby, promptly and strictly handle them according to the provisions of the law for general deterrence.
In addition, continue to assign officers to receive people's feedback on the applications CSGT, VNeID, VNeTraffic, 1022, Ho Chi Minh City Digital Citizen, TTGT, Help 114... to promptly resolve them in accordance with regulations and authority.
Handle responsibility for cadres, leaders and commanders who are indifferent and lack responsibility in receiving and handling reports and feedback from people about traffic situations in the area under their responsibility.
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also assigned the Department of Information and Communications to preside over and direct local press and radio agencies to post accurate and positive information about traffic order and safety; and guide people to reflect related issues on applications or Fanpages managed by the City Police.
