(QBĐT) - On February 17, Dr. Nguyen Duc Cuong, Director of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital Dong Hoi (HNVN-CBDH) said that a stroke patient who had a cardiac arrest for 90 minutes was saved and his health is gradually stabilizing.

According to family members, on the morning of February 9, patient Pham Van H. (59 years old, Xuan Kieu village, Quang Xuan commune, Quang Trach) fainted while at a construction site (Mr. H. is a bricklayer). Relatives took him to the Bac Quang Binh Regional General Hospital for emergency treatment. There, the patient was recorded to have suffered a complete cardiac arrest.
After 3 electric shocks and 90 minutes of emergency care, the patient was transferred to the HNVN-CBĐH Hospital for special emergency care, in a deep coma, with cardiac arrest for 90 minutes.
At the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department, the patient received intensive treatment and his heart began to recover. However, doctors determined that patient H. had rhabdomyolysis and anuria, a serious complication that could cause kidney failure. Immediately, the patient underwent emergency hemodialysis a total of four times to remove toxins from his body.
Thanks to intensive treatment, the patient's condition gradually improved, he became alert and was able to stop using vasopressors. Currently, the patient is completely alert, with rosy skin and mucous membranes, stable blood pressure, regular breathing, and good lung ventilation.
According to Dr. Nguyen Duc Cuong, patient H. had a congenital heart disease, due to overwork leading to a stroke, cardiac arrest for 90 minutes but fortunately timely emergency care saved his life. However, to avoid future incidents, the patient is being transferred to Hue to have an automatic cardiac defibrillator installed.
