On September 24, the Hanoi Women's Union organized a communication program "Preventing and responding to school violence - Building safe and friendly schools" for students at Cao Vien Secondary School, Thanh Oai District.

Speaking at the program, Vice President of the Hanoi Women's Union Le Thi Thien Huong said that school violence has been happening at all different levels of education, not only among male students but also among female students; not only between students but also between students and teachers and teachers and students...

In particular, according to statistics from the Supreme People's Court, of the approximately 220,000 divorce cases each year, 70-80% of the cases are related to conflicts and domestic violence. The number of students with a background of domestic violence related to school violence is very high.

A skit on propaganda to prevent and respond to school violence performed by students

Mr. Doan Viet Dung - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Oai district said that currently, all primary and secondary schools in the district have School Psychology Counseling Rooms. However, support and counseling activities for students, including educational programs on life skills, social skills, especially conflict resolution skills and self-esteem enhancement, need to continue to be focused on and improve quality and effectiveness.

It is known that over the years, the Department of Education and Training has coordinated with the District Women's Union to organize many activities such as: Communication events "Safety for women and children", "Building a safe and friendly space for women and girls", "Accompanying children" Festival, "Gender equality" Festival, propaganda on preventing child abuse, preventing school violence, life skills... for students.

Students need to be respected and supported.

To reduce school violence and build safe and friendly schools, Vice President of the Hanoi Women's Union Le Thi Thien Huong requested that Women's Unions at all levels, schools, families and students actively promote and raise public awareness of children's rights, prevent and respond to violence and abuse against women and children; join hands to prevent and respond to school violence; build safe and friendly schools, contributing to building elegant and civilized Hanoians.

Students enthusiastically participated in the program organized by the Hanoi Women's Union.

Mr. Doan Viet Dung - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Oai district said: "We need to create an open and effective communication system between the school's Board of Directors, teachers, staff, parents and students to work together and solve problems related to school violence".

In addition, to build a friendly school, we need to create an environment where students are encouraged, respected and supported. Teachers and school staff have an important role in building such an environment.

At the program, many exciting and practical communication activities took place such as: exchanges between reporters, propaganda through dramatization by performing skits, and an exhibition corner introducing paintings about school violence prevention activities performed by the students themselves.
