Faced with global trends, green transformation has become, is becoming, and will become an inevitable condition that businesses must implement to meet social needs.

According to a survey by market research firm Rakuten Insight in 2023, up to 84% of consumers are willing to pay more for sustainable products. Meanwhile, in a study by Nielsen (a global market research and communications firm), about 80% of Vietnamese consumers are willing to spend more to use products with environmentally friendly materials and green and clean brands.

In the face of global trends, green transformation has become, is becoming and will become an inevitable condition that businesses must implement to meet the needs of society. Not outside of this trend, many female entrepreneurs have constantly innovated and made efforts to transform themselves with the green economy in recent times.

Promoting green transition

As one of the pioneering enterprises in the green transformation trend, Ms. Dinh Hoai Giang, General Director of Secoin Joint Stock Company, clearly understands the importance of this path.

Ms. Giang said that in addition to the goals of helping develop a sustainable economy for Vietnam - a country that is deeply integrating into the global economy - green transformation is also associated with economic efficiency.

Because green transformation helps enhance national competitiveness by promoting production and business models based on green technology, reducing dependence on natural resources and reducing emissions, creating products with long-term sustainable value. Moreover, Secoin itself operates in the manufacturing sector with many international export orders, she understands that partners are increasingly paying attention to sustainability standards and ESG (Environment, Society, Governance).

Based on the above reasons, Ms. Giang and Secoin have focused resources on "greening". After many years of efforts, Secoin has increasingly affirmed its leading position in the field of sustainable production, contributing to the development of Vietnam's green economy when being honored in the top 3 of the Vietnam ESG Initiative Awards 2024, 3 consecutive years in the top 10 Sustainable Development Enterprises (2022-2024).

Challenges come with opportunities

"Every new path is not an easy one," Ms. Dinh Hoai Giang emphasized.

In fact, green transformation requires businesses to invest large amounts of capital in technology, infrastructure and improving production processes, especially in a competitive market and with limited financial resources. Therefore, it can be said that the biggest challenge for businesses when "going green" comes from costs.

Although there have been many policies from the government, in reality they are not enough, financial, technological and market support is still limited. In addition, the awareness, thinking and habits of the majority of people are not really "green", simply because when investing large amounts of capital to produce green products, the cost of the product will also increase but not all customers are willing to pay for this, unintentionally creating great pressure for businesses in balancing economic benefits and environmental responsibility.

However, Ms. Giang and Secoin always believe that green and sustainable products are the passport to bring Vietnamese brands to the international market. Thanks to that, the company's products are present in countries such as Spain, Morocco, Mexico, Brazil...

Therefore, Secoin always strives to "seek opportunities in challenges", applying smart, environmentally friendly solutions to production such as utilizing waste in the production process of unburnt construction materials, replacing clay, stone, sand, aiming for a circular production model; promoting the value of scrap materials that are normally discarded, creating a new life cycle for materials, bringing both environmental and economic benefits, helping to save and protect natural resources.

Drawing from experience, Ms. Giang believes that when faced with difficulties in green transformation, businesses need to recognize their internal strengths to promote and create new strengths. At the same time, they need to actively integrate, learn, share experiences and inspire the spread of green values in the business community.

"Green transformation is not just a temporary trend but a long-term orientation for sustainable development. The costs will only be expensive initially but the economic benefits are long-term. Therefore, businesses need to build a clear strategic vision, be steadfast with the goal and consider it a guiding principle in all activities," Ms. Giang shared.

In addition, green human resources are also a very important internal resource. Enterprises need to train, improve capacity and awareness for employees to implement green initiatives, linking green transformation with specific benefits for employees.

Act as soon as possible

As a technology company, Vina Aspire takes advantage of its internal strength to develop the smart business card product - GreenEcard, to replace traditional paper business cards, becoming a solution used by many large corporations, notably the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group. Accordingly, with GreenEcard PVC plastic business cards (recycled plastic), users can share information with just one touch or scan the code, bringing efficiency in communication.

Sharing about this achievement, Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc Tran, Operations Director of Vina Aspire, said that GreenEcard not only brings efficiency in information exchange and reduces production costs for businesses, but also helps Vina Aspire itself and other businesses shorten the process of achieving NetZero goals by minimizing paper consumption and reducing carbon emissions, in line with ESG standards.

Conceived in 2022, GreenEcard was officially launched in August 2024. Sharing about this journey, Ms. Tran said: "Although it is a technology company, Aspire still cannot avoid difficulties. Because this is a new idea, product, high investment costs, requiring new technology and resources. At the same time, the increasing cost of the product made me and my colleagues feel worried that the product was not well received."

But green transformation is a world trend and has become one of the inevitable standards, " We must adapt to the times, not because it is difficult to be discouraged. Let's get started as soon as possible, only when we act, will we receive results, whether good or bad. Otherwise, it will remain just an idea, further delaying the green transformation process, even falling behind the market and the world", Ms. Tran emphasized.

Start small to grow in the new era

Starting from the familiar idea of a business card - an object used daily to exchange information but unintentionally creating a large amount of waste for the environment, wasting resources, GreenEcard has achieved initial success when it was honored to receive the "Vietnam Smart City 2024" award for the category "Green digital technology for construction and smart life" presented by VINASA (Vietnam Association of Software and Information Technology Services).

In fact, green transformation always exists in everyone's consciousness but it is not convenient enough for everyone to do it every day, so let's green up from small things and when those small things are multiplied, it will bring a green economy, GreenEcard is an example of this," said Ms. Tran.

Entering the new year of At Ty 2025, the era of national growth, Ms. Tran shared that Vina Aspire will continue to research and develop from this platform to optimize the greenest products.

At the same time, Ms. Tran emphasized: "I myself or any woman has a special role in green transformation and sustainable development. A small action, a small solution will also have a huge impact on the environment, society and economy if they are widely recognized. Therefore, always be steadfast with the goal, even though it may be difficult at first, but you need to look far to see the long-term benefits and achieve worthy results from that."
