VHO - On the evening of November 16, in Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district, Ca Mau province, a solemn ceremony was held to inaugurate the Monument commemorating the 1954 Northward Rally Train and receive the National Monument ranking certificate.
The monument complex commemorating the Train Rally to the North is 22m long, 7m wide and the bow height is 7.2m. The ship's body structure is made of reinforced concrete, painted with imitation stone. The total investment of the project is 195 billion VND. This is one of the works of great historical significance, a red address contributing to educating revolutionary traditions, patriotism, and national pride for today's and future generations. At the same time, it is also one of the works to welcome the 17th Congress of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030.
With the historical significance of the event, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to rank the 1954 Northward Rally site on the south bank of the Doc River (Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district) as a national monument to promote the revolutionary spirit of the 70th anniversary of the Northward Rally and to respect the historical and cultural values of the nation.
On behalf of the local Party Committee and people, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi district, Nguyen The Chau, received the National Ranking Certificate "Regrouping place to the North in late 1954 and early 1955" awarded by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province Pham Thanh Ngai emphasized that the 1954 Northward gathering event was a strategic military movement aimed at sending cadres and student soldiers from the South to the North to work, study and train forces... to contribute to building socialism in the North, creating a solid rear base towards the complete liberation of the South and national reunification. At the same time, taking advantage of the time at the gathering area to build a new life with the people. Ca Mau is the locality with the longest Northward gathering period in the Southern region with 200 days.
In response to the wishes of cadres, soldiers and students from the South who gathered in the North, the Party Committee, government and people of Ca Mau province wish to build a project to preserve images and artifacts of a heroic historical period of the nation. Ca Mau province has decided to invest in the Monument complex of the train gathering to the North on the South bank of Song Doc town on an area of over 10 hectares with many of the above items.
Ca Mau province has identified this as an important project with profound political, historical and cultural significance, a vivid symbol of the solidarity between the North and the South. Above all, this is also a red address for educating revolutionary traditions, a place for people and tourists to visit and learn about history. For Song Doc town, the project will be a highlight of the most bustling coastal city in the Mekong Delta, increasing connectivity with other projects to serve cultural and tourism activities, promoting local socio-economic development. This is a vivid symbol of the steadfast and loyal solidarity between the North and the South, and a project to welcome the 17th Congress of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030.
With the value and historical significance of the gathering event to the North, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to rank the national relic for the gathering location to the North in late 1954 and early 1955 on the South bank of the Doc River, Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district, adding it to the relic "Places under the Southern Party Committee - Central Office for the South (Period from late 1949 to early 1955).
“Promoting the revolutionary spirit of the 70th anniversary of the regrouping to the North, respecting the historical and cultural values of the nation. I request the local government, together with relevant sectors and levels, to urgently have specific plans to manage, preserve and promote the project effectively and practically.
Strengthening traditional educational activities for the younger generation about patriotism and deep gratitude to previous generations who have made many contributions and sacrifices for the cause of national liberation and unification. Arousing in today's generation national pride and the desire to contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
"Exploit the values of the relic to serve tourism, develop the marine economy, and invest in developing this place to become a typical cultural work of the province," the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province directed.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province awarded Certificates of Merit to individuals who were witnesses and representatives of relatives of those who participated in the Rally who presented documents, images, artifacts, and souvenirs of cadres, soldiers, and compatriots from the South who gathered in the North in 1954. At the same time, the provincial leaders awarded Certificates of Merit to units, businesses, and individuals who sponsored the event.
