The village takes education as the most important thing

The tradition of mandarin examinations in Son Hoa and Son Thinh communes (now An Hoa Thinh commune) was built up by many families, the most famous of which were the Nguyen Khac and Dinh Nho families in the old Goi My village. Throughout the country's history, both families have contributed many talented people, contributing to writing the "golden history" of An Hoa Thinh land.

From the Le and Nguyen dynasties until before the August Revolution in 1945, Goi My was known as an excellent learning village, a cultural village of Huong Son land. During the period when Confucianism was still flourishing, Huong Son had 12 great scholars from doctors to associate doctors, including 3 children of the Dinh Nho and Nguyen Khac families of Goi My land.

Presently, in An Hoa Thinh commune, relics related to the characters of this family such as Goi Vi temple (old Son Hoa commune), Thinh Xa pagoda and Bach Van temple (old Son Thinh commune) have all been ranked as national historical relics. Goi Vi temple was established in Dinh Dau year (1717), Vinh Thinh 13th year, under the reign of King Le Du Tong. The temple worships four lucky gods of the Dinh Nho family: Doctor Dinh Nho Cong, Doctor Dinh Nho Hoan, General Dinh Nho Con and the chaste lady Phan Thi Vien - the second wife of Doctor Dinh Nho Hoan.

Bach Van Temple was established by Doctor Dinh Nho Cong after he passed the doctoral exam in Canh Tuat year (1670).

Related to Dr. Dinh Nho Cong is the ancient Bach Van temple with a thrilling story related to his classmate Tran Toan in Thanh Hoa. Bach Van temple was established by Dinh Nho Cong after he passed the doctoral exam in Canh Tuat year (1670) to show gratitude for Tran Toan's great friendship and later became a place for descendants in the village to pray for academic success. After his death, Dinh Nho Cong was also worshiped in Bach Van temple by the people of Thinh Xa village as a village tutelary god.

In the land of learning An Hoa Thinh, the Nguyen Khac family is also a famous family when it comes to promoting the tradition of learning and passing the imperial examinations. By the 11th generation, with the descendant Nguyen Khac Niem passing the Second Class Doctorate (Hoang Giap) exam in the Dinh Mui imperial examination in Hue at the age of 18, the reputation of the Nguyen Khac family has spread far and wide throughout the country.

Nguyen Khac Niem was a high-ranking mandarin of the Nguyen Dynasty, twice appointed as Governor of Thua Thien, Governor of Khanh Hoa, Governor of Thanh Hoa, and many times participated in the Examination Council of examinations... After the August Revolution, he participated in many cultural and social organizations from the commune to the provincial level and was appointed as a member of the Lien Viet Committee of Zone 4.

The children of the Imperial Doctor Nguyen Khac Niem also followed the family tradition of studying and passing exams, contributing to the country's development. Among them, the doctor and culturalist Nguyen Khac Vien was the most outstanding with many research achievements in the fields of medicine, politics - society, culture, sports, psychology, and education; followed by Professor - Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Khac Phi in the field of teaching and researching literature.

Writer Nguyen Khac Phe - son of the Imperial Doctor Nguyen Khac Niem, in his works also devoted many pages to expressing his pride in being born in a land rich in cultural and historical traditions. In the work "Unpredetermined Fate" (page 10), he devoted many sentences to talking about his homeland: "... The land with the sacred soul of the mountains and rivers that nurtured and protected him during his childhood years is also the important "starting place" of his life...".

The next generation

Like a source that flows forever, generations of descendants of An Hoa Thinh commune have continued and promoted the tradition of studiousness of their ancestors, cultivating knowledge to build their homeland more and more prosperous. And above all, this is still a village where people consider education as the most important. The work of building a lineage that encourages learning and a family that encourages learning is included in the village rules and regulations.

Generations of the Dinh Nho family always remember their ancestors.

Mr. Dinh Nho Giang - a member of the Dinh Nho clan said: "To encourage the learning spirit of the next generation, the clan has established a scholarship fund. Every year, we organize awards for students with high academic achievements. Many successful students become professors, doctors... bringing honor and pride to the whole clan."

The work of encouraging learning in the Nguyen Khac family is also always considered a top priority. Every year, on the anniversary of the ancestors on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month, the family organizes a report to the ancestors and rewards descendants with good academic achievements.

Descendants of the Nguyen Khac family continue to promote the studious spirit of their ancestors.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tung - Head of the Nguyen Khac Family Education Promotion Committee said: "To arouse pride and determination to overcome difficulties, the elders always educate their children and grandchildren about the good traditions of the family. We also always maintain a scholarship fund of more than 100 million VND to reserve funds to reward and encourage children and grandchildren."

At the secondary school named after Dr. Nguyen Khac Vien in An Hoa Thinh commune, teachers and students have been striving to follow in the footsteps of previous generations to make their homeland famous.

Teachers and students of Nguyen Khac Vien Secondary School are always proud of their homeland's traditions.

Ms. Ha Thi Thuong Huyen - Vice Principal of the school said: "We are very happy that the generation of students has strived to continue writing the "golden history" of their homeland, striving in studying and working to build their homeland more and more beautiful. Most recently, in the 2022-2023 school year, the results of the Olympic competitions in cultural subjects, the school ranked first in the district with 58 prizes; in the provincial excellent student competition, it also won 8 prizes...".

In the journey of continuing the cultural tradition of their homeland, the descendants of the Nguyen Khac and Dinh Nho families in particular and An Hoa Thinh commune in general have also achieved many achievements to glorify their ancestors. Many of them are professors, doctors, famous scientists, successful businessmen... who have been working at home and abroad, which is proof of their achievements and success in their studies.

Sending his wishes to the next generation, writer Nguyen Khac Phe said: “Living in a vibrantly developing society like today, I hope that the young generation of my hometown will constantly improve their knowledge to meet the requirements of the new era. Besides, we must always take care to preserve the good character and qualities that our ancestors have cultivated over many generations...”.
