Up to now, Van Yen district has 44 products recognized as OCOP from 3 stars or higher. Of which: 2 products are 4-star, 42 products are 3-star. There are 3 3-star products that have submitted their dossiers to the Central level for evaluation to upgrade to 5-star OCOP. OCOP products meet quality and food safety standards and regulations; have diverse designs and packaging and are environmentally friendly, suitable for market requirements.

After being recognized, OCOP products have increased in value, helping the subjects increase their production scale and revenue. Some large enterprises and supermarket groups have ordered and prioritized OCOP products to put into the distribution system. In particular, cinnamon products have been exported to international markets, many other products have been sold in supermarkets in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, etc.

Van Yen has formed effective OCOP value chains with the active role of cooperatives and enterprises. Many OCOP products effectively exploit local raw material areas, associated with geographical indications, such as cinnamon products. Van Yen Cinnamon Cooperative has taken advantage of the "green gold" to develop a specialized industry of purchasing, producing and trading cinnamon products.

During the development process, the Cooperative has been creative and sensitive to create diverse and unique products, which are well received by the market. It is the top unit in the province in terms of product quantity, contributing to making Van Yen cinnamon a key product of the OCOP Program of Yen Bai province.

Mr. Dang Cong Long - Director of Que Van Yen Cooperative, Mau A town said: "The cooperative focuses on selecting raw material areas, applying science and technology in essential oil production, having a system of packaging, labels, QR-code to identify products...".

Mr. Pham Trung Kien - Vice Chairman of Van Yen District People's Committee said: The district's OCOP program has received close direction from local authorities, political systems and the support of the people. The direction and coordination between agencies, units and localities are increasingly close. With the efforts of the subjects, in 2024, Van Yen has newly recognized 6/7 3-star OCOP products, re-recognized 6/12 3-star products. The district's OCOP products are increasingly diverse in design, packaging, and product quality is improved. The subjects have paid more attention to product quality control, brand building, trademarks, traceability, application of information technology in management, sales, product consumption, participation in product linkage and consumption chains.

However, the direction in some communes and towns is not regular, not proactive in reviewing potential products and strengths of the locality; some subjects are not fully aware of the benefits of participating in the OCOP Program; the subjects' ability to promote trade is still weak, there is no product development strategy; the linkage and product consumption contracts are not tight and sustainable; the construction of procedural documents still faces many difficulties, so some subjects are still hesitant and not determined to participate in the Program.

Building and developing OCOP products has significantly contributed to increasing people's income, helping Van Yen district complete the new rural construction program. Therefore, in the coming time, the district will continue to mobilize the participation of the entire political system, especially the role of commune-level leaders in strengthening information and propaganda work on the OCOP Program; focusing on the management of OCOP product quality and promoting the trade promotion, advertising and introduction of OCOP products by OCOP product owners on e-commerce platforms. At the same time, continue to encourage OCOP owners to research and develop more products from local raw materials, both increasing economic value and preserving indigenous cultural identity.

In 2025, the district strives to develop 5 new 3-star OCOP products, upgrade 3 4-star products to 5-star, and re-recognize 9/13 3-star OCOP products (4 products are not included in the re-evaluation). In the coming time, the district will continue to coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Agriculture and Environment to help units strengthen trade promotion, connect consumer markets; focus on promoting and introducing OCOP products in many forms.
