Tra Vinh University flexibly applies the model of North American schools

Multidisciplinary, multi-method training model

Linking training to meet community needs is the motto of Tra Vinh University (TVU). All activities and decisions of the school are oriented towards the community and society, meeting learning needs with diverse forms of training, multi-disciplinary, multi-level (college, university and postgraduate) to meet the lifelong learning needs of learners. Community participation is considered a key factor from the program design, teaching and practical internship stages... Training programs are continuously updated, improved and adjusted according to the needs of learners and the domestic and foreign labor market.

Nowadays, with the strong development of many suitable training forms towards a lifelong learning society. Training by order, online training, distance learning, training at enterprises... makes the geographical limitations of a university almost eliminated, instead aiming at the values ​​of "borderless university". That is diversity in training, cooperation, multicultural teaching environment, sharing, globalization and high application serving practical life to meet the diverse needs of the community.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Chairman of the University Council, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Community Colleges and Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Minh Hoa, President of TVU, signed an agreement to enhance cooperation with Canadian organizations, institutes and schools.

With the competition and requirements of the labor market, market demand assessment is a mandatory task of a university today. Labor market assessment, especially labor market shortage assessment, helps schools have a full understanding of the current situation of the labor force in the community; new job skills and competencies created in the labor demand area, labor supply sources and units doing labor force development, causes of unemployment and underemployment. From there, TVU has the necessary orientations in career counseling for students.

Flexible application of North American school model

According to Mr. Tran Hoan Kim, former Chairman of Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of TVU Advisory Council, Head of the Steering Committee of Vietnam - Canada Community College Project, one of the people who are attached and dedicated to the development of the school, said: "Up to now, more than 20 years of developing Tra Vinh University, this is a very important time for us to look back on the journey with the motto 'Bringing quality learning opportunities to the community' truly coming into life, raising the position of TVU. Entering the autonomous stage, the school creates the core values ​​of sustainable development which are 'Dedication - Transparency - Creativity - Friendliness'. More than ever, we need to connect and integrate more to improve quality, firmly step into the future".

TVU has expanded cooperation with more than 90 international partners, institutes and schools in many fields: training cooperation, student exchange, exchange of lecturers, students, volunteers, international experts and cooperation in implementing funding projects, applied research, promoting many projects related to short-term and long-term scholarship funding for lecturers and students, developing Lab - innovation space for students, lecturers, international training links... Currently, TVU is a member of the CDIO Organization - an organization that promotes an educational framework to improve the quality of training in universities in the technical sector worldwide. In addition, TVU is also the 151st member of the Association of Canadian Community Colleges, now the Association of Colleges and Institutes of Canada (CICan).

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Tiet Khanh, Chairman of the TVU Council, said: "TVU is striving to create a favorable environment for the socialization of learning, research, employment and technology transfer, serving the community. In 20 years of pursuing the school's mission, there have been 20 years of aspirations, making miracles along the path of construction and development of the province. Now, a new chapter in the development history of TVU continues to open with the aspiration to break through, making miracles of a young university with a great desire to reach out to the world with the province, aiming to become an advanced, intelligent university in the future, continuing to affirm the quality of training, creating more values ​​for the mission of "Bringing quality learning opportunities to the community".

Currently, TVU is among the top universities in the Mekong Delta with 13 programs that have achieved international educational quality accreditation according to AUN-QA, FIBAA, ABET quality standards, including agriculture, aquaculture, veterinary medicine, nursing, etc. For many consecutive years, TVU has been ranked by UI GreenMetric as one of the top 200 sustainable, environmentally friendly green universities. The World's Universities with Real Impacts (WURI) Alliance announced that TVU is ranked in the Top 100 of WURI Ranking of schools with positive influence and contributions to society.
