On the morning of September 20, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Lang Chanh district, said that on the same morning, 263 students and 13 teachers of Lam Phu Secondary School temporarily stopped going to school to move to another location, due to the landslide.
According to Mr. Son, for now, all students and teachers will be transferred to study at the functional building of Lam Phu Primary School (about 7km away) to wait for the functional departments and local leaders to finalize an emergency handling plan.

"The landslide is serious and there is a risk of collapse, so the locality has a plan to relocate. This morning (September 20), we moved the equipment. It is expected that tomorrow the children will return to school as usual," said Mr. Son.
Previously, heavy rains caused by storm No. 3 from September 11 to 13 caused landslides and rocks to flood into the 2-storey building with 8 classrooms and auxiliary works of Lam Phu Secondary School (Lang Chanh District) under construction.

The landslide caused a large amount of soil and rock to tilt the school building forward. In many places, the walls were cracked 5-7cm wide; some columns were bent and broken. In two classrooms, soil flowed down and collapsed part of the wall.
According to a report from the People's Committee of Lang Chanh district, the school construction started in August 2023. To date, the authorities have completed about 80% of the project.
After the incident, Thanh Hoa Department of Construction reported to the Provincial People's Committee about the decision to declare a state of emergency and put up warning signs around the construction site.
