At a press conference providing information on the results of drug prevention, control and combat in 2024, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Vien - Director of the Department of Drug Crime Investigation (C04, Ministry of Public Security) provided additional information related to drug "kingpin" Vu Hoang Oanh.

According to Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Vien, Vu Hoang Oanh (67 years old, residing in Hai Phong) is also known as Oanh “Ha” (sister of the boss Dung “Ha” in the Nam Cam case). The unit coordinated with the Cambodian police force to arrest and extradite her to the country for investigation and handling 2 years ago.

The Director of Department C04 said that the case has been concluded, 34 defendants have been prosecuted. The Supreme People's Court assigned the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court to try this case, scheduled to take place from December 24.

Previously, C04 presided over the destruction of project 324C, arrested 16 subjects, and seized 81.5 kg of various drugs.

According to documents from the investigation agency, through professional work, Department C04 discovered a drug trafficking and illegal transportation ring led by Quang Van Thanh and Bac Cam Anh. Both are currently hiding abroad.

On March 7, C04 caught Vi Van Luong (18 years old, from Dien Bien) and Hoang Van Tin (26 years old, from Hanoi) red-handed while delivering drugs at Nuoc Ngam bus station (Hanoi), seizing 34kg of drugs. Continuing to urgently search the warehouse and residence of the two subjects, the police seized an additional 26kg of drugs.

From the statements of Luong and Tin and the collected documents, Department C04 arrested 5 other subjects in the ring, seized 1.5 kg of drugs and many related documents.

Expanding the investigation, Vietnamese authorities coordinated with Lao authorities to arrest 5 suspects in the ring, including Quàng Văn Thành (the ringleader) and 2 wanted suspects (including 1 special wanted suspect in the Oanh "Hà" case).

Continuing to expand the investigation of the case, on May 27, Department C04 arrested 4 other subjects, confiscating an additional 20kg of drugs. During the pursuit, a subject driving a container truck escaped, throwing drugs from the vehicle onto the road to destroy evidence.

The investigation agency has coordinated with local police and mobilized the masses to cooperate in the search. So far, the forces have discovered and seized 6 more heroin cakes that the subject threw away.

Also according to the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, in Project 342C, Department C04 arrested 16 subjects and seized 81.5 kg of various drugs. The subjects confessed to having successfully transported drugs to Vietnam many times, each trip carrying 30-50 kg.
