This year, in order to share the difficulties and losses that children in the northern provinces have just experienced due to the impact of storm No. 3, localities did not organize art performances or festivals on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival but instead organized gift giving for children with the spirit of reaching out to children in difficult circumstances, encouraging them to be good and study well.
Representatives of the Economic Police Department and the Provincial Police Hospital presented gifts to disadvantaged children in Lam Thao district on the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival.
This year, Lam Thao District Youth Union coordinated with the Economic Police Department, Provincial Police Hospital, Lam Thao District Police, and Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB Bank) to present 130 gifts worth a total of 61 million VND to 130 children in difficult circumstances in the district.
At the Tu Xa commune headquarters, the children were present early. Dressed in neat uniforms and red scarves, they sat upright waiting for their names to come up to receive gifts. For children living in poverty and with difficult family lives, such gifts are extremely meaningful.
Holding the gift package with respect and care, Nguyen Minh Nhat - Zone 7, Tu Xa commune excitedly said: "This year, I received many gifts from uncles and aunts. I will bring them home to share with my parents and siblings". Each gift includes cash, cakes, candies, milk... The value of the gifts may not be much, but it encapsulates the hearts of the sponsors, organizations, and youth union members towards the children.

After finishing the gift giving at the People's Committees of the communes, Lam Thao District Youth Union together with Son Vi Commune Youth Union brought the gifts to the disabled children, those in difficult circumstances who could not come to receive the gifts directly. For 10 years, Tran Lan Anh, Zone 13, Son Vi Commune has lived with cerebral palsy and congenital heart disease. Instead of going to school like many of her peers, she seems to just lie in one place, unable to take care of herself.
Receiving the gift from the Youth Union officials, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, Lan Anh's mother, could not hide her emotion: "On behalf of Lan Anh, my family would like to thank the organizations for their concern, giving her a Mid-Autumn Festival full of joy, reducing some of her sadness and hardship."
Comrade Cao Xuan Huy - Secretary of Lam Thao District Youth Union said: "Lam Thao District Youth Union implements the general policy of not organizing Mid-Autumn Festival activities at ward and commune level, but we still organize to give gifts to disadvantaged children in the district. Hopefully, the small gifts will motivate the children to overcome their circumstances, be good and study well."
Perhaps going to the doctor on Mid-Autumn Festival is not a fun experience for children and their families. Understanding that psychology, from early morning, the Youth Union of the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital was on duty at the reception area to give the children small, cute gifts. A flashing rabbit lantern or pet-shaped cakes, candy packages, milk cartons... will also make the children happy.

Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Anh - Phong Chau town, Phu Ninh district said: "The activity of giving gifts to sick children of the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital is very meaningful. That makes the family feel that their children are cared for, giving them more encouragement and support to overcome the disease."
In his letter to children on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival 2024, General Secretary and President To Lam said: “This year's Mid-Autumn Festival will not be complete because natural disasters have caused serious consequences for many families, villages, hamlets, and communes. Many children have unfortunately lost their lives, many have lost loved ones, lost their homes, and are living in extremely difficult circumstances. I would like to express my deepest condolences to the relatives and families of the children who are victims of storms and floods and hope that we will all have the courage to overcome this pain and loss.

For children in storm and flood areas, Uncle Ho advised them to always pay attention to safety when studying and playing. Stay away from dangerous places, do not play near rivers, streams, ponds, lakes, and always remember the words of parents and teachers to protect yourself and your friends.
Not only Lam Thao district, Maternity and Pediatric Hospital but also localities, organizations and unions in the province have, are and will have more activities, giving much love and dedicated care to the young generation, the future owners of the country. Children of the Homeland promise to always be obedient, healthy, good at studying, diligent, live with love and ambition; carry out well the 5 things Uncle Ho taught teenagers and children; always be good students, good children; strive to become the pride of the family, clan and nation.
