The reference exchange rate at the State Bank's Transaction Office also increased to 23,692 - 26,080 VND/USD (buy - sell).
Meanwhile, the USD exchange rate at commercial banks had mixed developments. Vietcombank increased by 30 VND in both directions, listing the USD exchange rate at 25,630 - 25,990 VND/USD (buy - sell).
BIDV and VietinBank adjusted their prices up by 10 to 15 VND, bringing the buying price to 25,620 - 25,628 VND/USD and the selling price to 25,980 - 25,988 VND/USD.
At Techcombank, the buying rate remained the same, while the selling rate decreased by 10 VND, currently at 25,640 - 25,985 VND/USD. On the contrary, Eximbank decreased by 10 VND in the buying rate, keeping the selling price unchanged, listed at 25,630 - 25,990 VND/USD.
In the free market, the USD exchange rate increased sharply, by 86 VND for buying and 116 VND for selling, trading around 25,936 - 26,036 VND/USD (buy - sell).
The US dollar fell to a six-month low against the euro, yen and Swiss franc (safe haven currencies), as investors worried about the negative impact of the sweeping US tariff policy just announced.
