On October 9, the Cam Xuyen District Military Command (Ha Tinh) coordinated with the Engineering Department (Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command) to deploy a plan to salvage a bomb discovered on the edge of the Ngan Mo River (Cam Due Commune, Cam Xuyen District). |
Two days ago (October 7), a group of workers working on a project to repair landslides on the left bank of the Ngan Mo River discovered a bomb 2-3 meters underground, next to the riverbank, so they reported it to local authorities. |
After inspection, authorities recovered the bomb. |
Initial inspection determined that this bomb was a remnant of the war, a 500-LB GP MK3 MOD1 bomb manufactured in the US. |
The bomb is still quite intact, weighing about 250-300kg, about 1.5m long, and nearly 50cm wide. |
Authorities checked the bomb before taking it to the disposal site. |
The bomb was moved to the training ground of Thach Ngoc commune (Thach Ha district) for safe detonation. |
Engineers prepare to detonate the bomb. |

The project to repair the landslide embankment on the left bank of Ngan Mo River (Cam Due Commune, Cam Xuyen District, Ha Tinh) has a total investment of more than 14 billion VND, aiming to ensure the safety of people and civil infrastructure before the rainy and stormy season. The project is about 400m long, the embankment is 4.5 - 5m high, built of concrete and steel. The project started construction last August and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. |
