TPO - Hundreds of gifts and many lanterns and star lanterns shining brightly in the dark night in Tot Dong village (Chuong My district, Hanoi) seem to make people forget the flooding in the past few days in the suburbs of Hanoi.
Since last night and this Mid-Autumn Festival night (September 17), the youth union members of Dun village, Dong Dau village (Chuong My district, Hanoi) have prepared more than 500 gifts including lanterns, candies, and moon cakes to go to each house to give gifts to children. |
Many families in deeply flooded areas had to evacuate, so many children were not at home. The youth union and local authorities sent gifts and organized a party at the village cultural house after the water receded. |
It is known that every year in Tot Dong, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, all the people and children eagerly look forward to the team ritual rehearsal and group singing and dancing competition. |
However, due to flooding, the contest had to be postponed until this weekend. The commune has 12 villages, but two villages, Dun and Dong Dau, were completely flooded. Both villages have had their electricity cut off for nearly a week now, and many households were deeply flooded and had to be evacuated to a safe place. |
