On the evening of April 20, in Dien Bien Phu city (Dien Bien province), the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Arts and the People's Committee of Dien Bien province jointly organized the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Travel through heritage sites and scenic spots of Vietnam".
This is one of a series of cultural and tourism activities within the framework of National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 towards the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 2024).
Participating in the exhibition are 21 provinces and cities in the country, including: Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu, An Giang.
The exhibition content is divided into 2 areas: General exhibition area "Traveling through Vietnam's cultural heritage and scenic spots" and colorful space exhibition area "Cultural heritage and scenic spot tourism" for each province and city.
At the joint exhibition area "Traveling through Vietnam's cultural heritage and scenic spots" there are 300 photos on display highlighting the value of UNESCO-recognized heritages, historical sites, famous scenic spots and the typical cultural life of Vietnamese ethnic communities.
At the exhibition area of “Cultural heritage and scenic spots tourism” of provinces and cities, the focus is on introducing cultural and natural heritages, typical scenic spots of each locality, destinations that are loved by tourists; introducing unique features of community activities; promoting the potential of eco-tourism, sustainable tourism in the locality, typical traditional handicrafts, culinary arts, and local products.
Specifically, Dien Bien introduces the Dien Bien Phu battlefield relic (one of the special national relics) and the unique and diverse traditional cultural values of 19 ethnic groups.
Lao Cai province introduces cultural heritages, historical relics, and typical festivals of the province, such as: Thuong Temple, Mau Temple, Bac Ha horse racing festival, decorative art on costumes of the Mong Hoa people in Bac Ha district, Sa Pa terraced fields, etc.
Thai Nguyen introduces in depth the historical relics and festivals of Dinh Hoa Safe Zone, Long Tong festival (Tay ethnic group), Cap sac ceremony (San Diu ethnic group), Nui Coc lake, Phuong Hoang cave...
The exhibition space of Vinh Phuc province chose to introduce Binh Son tower, tug-of-war rituals and games in Vietnam, the practice of worshipping the Mother Goddess of the Three Palaces, the scenic areas of Tay Thien and Tam Dao, etc.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong, Director of the Vietnam Culture and Arts Exhibition Center, affirmed that the exhibition is a cultural and tourism activity to introduce cultural and natural heritages, famous landscapes, historical relics, and destinations loved by tourists from all over the country. At the same time, it vividly depicts the unique cultural identity of the people in community cultural activities; promotes the potential and tourism products, local culinary arts, etc. Thereby, enhancing the image of the country and people of Vietnam, contributing to realizing the goal of making tourism a spearhead economic sector.
Mr. Vu A Bang, Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, said that as the host province of the National Tourism Year, Dien Bien wishes to create the best conditions for localities participating in the exhibition to have the opportunity to introduce and promote the beauty of their local heritage and landscapes. In addition, it will contribute to turning the exhibition into an "open forum", a place for businesses and investors in the tourism value chain to exchange experiences... Tourism cooperation and investment programs and projects will increasingly develop in both quality and quantity.
At the same time, Mr. Vu A Bang emphasized that the exhibition was held on this occasion with the participation of many provinces and cities across the country, contributing to the atmosphere of "the whole country turning to Dien Bien".
Within the framework of the exhibition, there are also daily cultural and artistic exchange programs with the participation of professional and non-professional art groups and clubs from provinces and cities. Introducing types of intangible cultural heritage of the nation, traditional folk art forms, folk songs, folk dances, performances of traditional Ao Dai, etc.
Along with that, contemporary folk art performances bring the breath of life, praising the beauty and love of homeland and country, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory. The exhibition will end on April 25.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, delegates visited the exhibition of participating units, especially visitors enjoyed the light sculpture art showing the image of the map of Vietnam; the image of the great President Ho Chi Minh; General Vo Nguyen Giap and the image of porters using bicycles to supply the Dien Bien front...
