Ho Chi Minh City: Amino StemCel Clinic 'transforms' joint medicine into stem cells

On the afternoon of May 22, information from the Inspectorate of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that the unit had just inspected and discovered that the Amino StemCell clinic (No. 256B Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3) had "transformed" joint pain medicine into stem cells to advertise and attract customers.

The inspection was carried out yesterday, May 21.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, after inspection, Amino StemCel clinic has 2 signs: "Amino Stemcell Business Location - USAC Chiropractic American Standard Musculoskeletal Treatment Clinic Hospital LLC" and "Specialized Surgery Clinic - USAC Chiropractic Musculoskeletal Treatment LLC". The person in charge of the profession is Dr. VNX

On social media advertising channels, this facility claims to use pluripotent cell therapy such as “Amio StemCell” and “Bio Nano Cell” to treat customers. This advertisement makes customers easily confused that they are receiving stem cell treatment. However, in reality, the drug used by this clinic to inject into the knee joint is Ostenil Plus. Ostenil Plus is only a drug used to treat joint-related diseases, especially osteoarthritis.

At the time of inspection, the team noted that there were many patients undergoing musculoskeletal treatment, doctors were examining and performing knee ultrasounds on patients, but did not print out the ultrasound results. Many machines on the floors had not been assessed by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, and the origin of the machines had not been presented.

Through searching the business registration portal and information from Vo Thi Sau Ward Police, there are 5 companies operating at 256 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, none of which are related to beauty and medical services.

From the above violations, the inspection team drew up a report and requested the facility to immediately remove advertising content on signs and websites that have not been confirmed by the Department of Health. Technicians must immediately stop medical examination and treatment activities without a practice certificate and stop performing techniques without approval from the Department of Health.

The inspection team also invited the company's representative and doctors to work with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Inspectorate. The working session will clarify the contents and determine violations against individuals, and request the company to provide records of the origin of all machines currently in use at the clinic.

According to the Health Department Inspectorate, the total fine for the violations of Amino StemCell Clinic could be up to 193 million VND. Additional penalties include the revocation of the operating license for 4 months and the revocation of the medical practice certificate of the doctor responsible for the professional practice for 3 months.
