The information was shared by Mr. Trinh Nguyen Hung Dung, Chairman of the Saigon Tourism Golf Association (Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association), at the meeting to announce the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Golf Tournament and launch this association, on November 15.
According to Mr. Trinh Nguyen Hung Dung, the goal of the first Ho Chi Minh City tourism golf tournament is to connect tourism businesses to promote and introduce this new tourism product of the city. The tournament will invite guests who are foreign partners specializing in exploiting inbound tours (international visitors), thereby contributing to promoting tourism in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country.
"The Saigon Golf Tourism Association will build links to create a supply chain for golf tourism products, build and sell golf tours; organize tournaments associated with major tourism events in Ho Chi Minh City such as tourism festivals, Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair (ITE HCMC)... to create more products to meet the needs of tourists" - Mr. Hung Dung said.
According to businesses, golf tourism combined with MICE tourism will create diversity for Ho Chi Minh City's tourism products.
According to businesses, golf tourism will meet the needs of tourists in the middle and high-end segments coming to the city to attend events, conferences, seminars combined with relaxation. This is a customer segment with high spending needs, so it will bring large revenue to the tourism industry. In particular, golf tourism in Ho Chi Minh City aims to attract international visitors from the markets of Korea, Japan, China, etc.
Statistics from the National Tourism Administration show that about 20% of Korean tourists to Vietnam want to play golf, so this is a very potential market. Similarly, Japanese and Chinese tourists are not outside this trend, and the facilities, accommodation, shopping and dining services in Ho Chi Minh City can fully meet this type of tourist.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Anh, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, said that in the context of Ho Chi Minh City tourism recovery, diversifying products to attract more customer segments and visitor flows is necessary and golf tourism has great potential. In the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy in general and the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Development Strategy, both mention that golf tourism has many prospects and can be exploited and developed.
"MICE tourism is the city's strength. Now, if we combine it with golf tourism products, it will create diversity and appeal to domestic and international visitors," said Mr. Viet Anh.
