From April 1, electricity bill notifications to households in Ho Chi Minh City will only be sent via the EVNHCMC Customer Service application instead of the traditional way.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation (EVNHCMC), after downloading the application (on the iOS App Store or Android CH Play), households can use their phone number to create a user account and enter a 13-character PE code to check their electricity bill information. Developed since 2015, this application can also report daily electricity indexes, power outage schedules and other services.
Ho Chi Minh City Electricity is the first unit to completely abandon traditional notification channels. Previously, electricity bill notifications were sent to homes with paper bills and SMS messages to phones. In recent years, local electricity companies have sent notifications via Zalo or App (if customers use it) instead of SMS messages to reduce costs. In Hanoi, EVNHN still sends notifications via Zalo at the same time.

All customers in Ho Chi Minh City record their meter readings at the end of the month, so according to EVNHCMC, electricity payments are made at the beginning of the month, from the 2nd to the 5th of each month.
At a press conference on March 28, the Deputy General Director of EVNHCMC predicted that customers' electricity bills in March could be relatively higher than previous months due to high demand at the beginning of the dry season and the El Nino phenomenon.
In March, Ho Chi Minh City consumed more than 2.43 billion kWh of electricity, an increase of about 1.17% compared to the same period in 2023. The highest consumption day was on March 27 with 94.5 million kWh, breaking last year's record of 90.4 million kWh. Due to current weather conditions, EVNHCMC forecasts a new record in the next two months, with over 95 million kWh per day.
The city's power system currently has a reserve capacity of 40-60% depending on the voltage level, with enough capacity to meet electricity demand under all consumption growth scenarios, according to EVNHCMC. However, it is not excluded that local, small-scale overloads may occur due to sudden increases in demand at the same time. Therefore, Ho Chi Minh City Power Company recommends that people and businesses increase the implementation of saving solutions to limit this situation.
