On the morning of August 15, traffic police simultaneously patrolled and detected transport business vehicles violating regulations, according to the plan of the Ministry of Public Security.

In Hanoi , a working group of Traffic Police Team No. 11 (Hanoi City Police) stopped and inspected a series of passenger and container buses on Thang Long Avenue through Thach That district.

Upon detecting the authorities, many vehicles changed direction and entered the road to Son Tay town. Of the nearly 10 vehicles stopped for inspection for violations such as alcohol concentration, carrying too many passengers, and transport business contracts, only one vehicle violated the law by opening the door while driving.

The 40-year-old male driver, who drove a container carrying corrugated iron on the Hai Phong - Hoa Binh route, said that in recent days he has been constantly receiving information about the operation of the functional forces. "Today, before loading the goods, the business owner also told me to absolutely comply with the requirements to ensure traffic safety and order, especially not to drink alcohol," the male driver said.

Lieutenant Colonel Bui Xuan Phuong, Deputy Head of Traffic Police Team No. 11, said that after two weeks of propaganda, drivers' awareness of obeying traffic laws has improved. For cases of avoidance, the team will come up with a plan to "close the area" to ensure effective inspection.

In Hoa Binh , on the Ho Chi Minh road through Ben Market, Yen Thuy district, a working group of 5 police officers set up a checkpoint to check trucks and passenger cars for violations of alcohol concentration, business contracts, badges, goods, and number of passengers.

At 10am, the police stopped a 30-seat passenger bus running from Thanh Hoa to Hanoi and found a lot of goods in the passenger compartment. The driver explained that the cargo compartment under the car was too small. For this violation, the driver was fined 600,000-800,000 VND.

To implement the plan of the Ministry of Public Security, the Hoa Binh Provincial Police established a special task force consisting of traffic police and armed mobile police. In the morning, the task force used two vehicles with badges and a disguised vehicle to patrol and control a route of more than 120 km in Hoa Binh City and Da Bac and Luong Son districts.

At 12:30, on National Highway 6 in Lam Son Commune, Luong Son District, a police camouflage car stopped a truck carrying eucalyptus and acacia wood and then notified the vehicle with the badge via walkie-talkie to set up a weighing station for inspection. For the 39% overload violation, the driver was fined 3-5 million VND, the vehicle owner was fined 6-8 million VND.

The Traffic Police Department stated that recently, traffic accidents involving commercial transport vehicles have accounted for a large proportion.

For example, from the beginning of 2022 to now, there have been more than 16,200 traffic accidents nationwide, of which nearly 5,800 involved commercial transport vehicles (accounting for 35%), killing more than 3,700 people (accounting for more than 40%). In the first 6 months of this year, there were 4,900 traffic accidents nationwide, of which nearly 1,900 involved commercial passenger transport vehicles.

To minimize the damage caused by this type of vehicle, the Ministry of Public Security has issued a plan to conduct a general inspection of commercial vehicles from August 1 to October 15, with the participation of four levels of police (from the ministerial level to the grassroots level) and the transport sector.

Phase one lasts 14 days, with authorities propagating and mobilizing vehicle owners, business owners and drivers to comply with the law and traffic safety. Phase two, from August 15 to October 15, will see police from all units and localities simultaneously patrolling, controlling and handling violations.

In the past 7 days, serious traffic accidents have occurred continuously involving commercial transport vehicles. For example, on August 12, two trucks crashed into a 5-seat car, killing three people, including coaches and players of the Hoang Anh Gia Lai Football Club. On the same day, in Da Lat, a truck crashed into a motorbike, killing two female students.
