General Director of Binh Duong City Land Company sentenced to life in prison

On charges of fraud and property appropriation, Nguyen Thanh Hung (born 1994, General Director of Binh Duong City Land Company) was sentenced to life in prison by the People's Court of Binh Duong province.

On the afternoon of November 1, the People's Court of Binh Duong province sentenced the defendants Nguyen Thanh Hung (born in 1994, General Director of Binh Duong City Land Company), Hoang Anh Vui (born in 1994), Le Van Cong (born in 1977), Nguyen Anh Khoa (born in 1991) and Chau Le Minh Ven (born in 1987) for the crime of "fraudulent appropriation of property".

Accordingly, for the same crime of “Fraudulent appropriation of property”, the trial panel of Binh Duong Provincial People’s Court sentenced defendant Nguyen Thanh Hung to life in prison; Hoang Anh Vui to 20 years in prison; Le Van Cong to 18 years in prison and 1 year and 6 months in prison (from another previous sentence), the total sentence is 19 years and 6 months in prison; Nguyen Anh Khoa to 12 years and 6 months in prison; Chau Le Minh Ven to 12 years in prison and 13 years in prison from another previous sentence, the total sentence is 25 years in prison.

According to the indictment, since 2018, the defendants contributed capital to establish City Land Binh Duong Real Estate Company. After that, this group continued to establish Thanh Cong Investment and Development Joint Stock Company and Thang Loi Real Estate Investment and Development Service Trading Joint Stock Company, then divided 6 agricultural land plots and named them into projects: Happy Home Residential Area Project, Happy Home Residential Area 2, Green City Residential Area 1, Green City Residential Area 2, Green City Residential Area 3 and Phuc Long City Residential Area.

Although the process of self-dividing plots and the application for permission were returned by the authorities, the defendants still provided false information about the project to sign investment agreements and contracts to transfer the right to use the land plots to customers to appropriate money.

The defendants appropriated more than 162 billion VND. Of this amount, the group of defendants returned nearly 18 billion VND, the jury ordered the defendants to be responsible for returning the rest to the victims.
