According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, on the occasion of attending the High-level Week of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly and working in New York, the United States, on the afternoon of September 23 (local time), General Secretary and President To Lam received former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and a number of enterprises in the technology sector as well as leading investment funds of the United States and the world, including Apple, Meta, Super Micro, and two investment funds Blackstone and Warburg Pincus.
Receiving the leaders of Apple Corporation, General Secretary and President To Lam congratulated and highly appreciated Apple's successes globally as well as in Vietnam in recent times; affirming that Apple and its partners' continued expansion of investment and business activities in Vietnam demonstrates Vietnam's increasingly important position both in terms of consolidating the supply chain of goods and developing the market for consuming Apple products.
Noting that Vietnam has recently established a Working Group to implement cooperation with Apple Corporation, the General Secretary and President hopes that this will be an effective cooperation mechanism, bringing practical benefits to both sides in the coming time; at the same time, he hopes that Apple, with its resources, experience and reputation, will participate in developing the field of science and technology, innovation in general in Vietnam and promote cooperation with the National Innovation Center under the Ministry of Planning and Investment in particular, through specific cooperation activities, bringing practical benefits to both sides.

Thanking the General Secretary and President for taking the time to meet him, Apple Vice President Nick Ammann assessed that Vietnam is not only a great market for this corporation, but also a production base for Apple to supply its goods to the world.
Mr. Nick Ammann emphasized that many of Apple's key products are now being manufactured in Vietnam and thanks to the support of the Vietnamese Government, the group is developing and expanding production; at the same time, he highly appreciated the investment prospects in Vietnam, as well as the value of the Vietnamese market in the global strategy and the potential to participate more deeply in the supply chain of the group's important products.
At the meeting with the leaders of Meta Group, General Secretary and President To Lam said that Vietnam identifies digital transformation as one of the important driving forces bringing the country into a new era.

Emphasizing that cooperation in science, technology and innovation has been identified as an important pillar in the relationship between Vietnam and the United States, the General Secretary said that although investment cooperation activities between the two sides are still not commensurate with the potential of the bilateral relationship and there is still much room for development in the coming time.
The General Secretary and President suggested that Meta Group continue to discuss with Vietnamese agencies and partners, especially the National Innovation Center, to promote the implementation of specific cooperation activities in the fields of science and technology, innovation, AI, Internet of Things (IoT), etc., areas in which Meta has many strengths, while Vietnam has a lot of potential and desires to cooperate.
The General Secretary and President affirmed that the Party, State and People of Vietnam are committed to creating all favorable conditions, in accordance with legal regulations, for US investors in general and Meta Group in particular to invest and do business effectively and sustainably in Vietnam.
For his part, Meta's President of Global External Affairs, Mr. Nick Clegg, shared plans to increase production in Vietnam for Metaverse virtual reality glasses, the group's latest spearhead after its traditional fields of social networking and messaging applications.
Sharing his plans to visit Vietnam next week, Mr. Nick Clegg hopes to have the opportunity to introduce “Meta AI” for Vietnamese users to try for free, helping every Vietnamese person to access the “super tool” AI with just a personal phone.
Meta's leaders also pledged to continue supporting and expanding investment programs and encouraging innovation in Vietnam in the coming time.
In an interview with Mr. Wally Liaw, founder and Senior Vice President of Business Development of Supermicro, a leading corporation in the field of information technology, the General Secretary and President welcomed the corporation's cooperation proposal in the field of developing AI data centers and AI server system manufacturing ecosystem.
The General Secretary and President requested Supermicro Corporation and related partners to negotiate a specific roadmap to implement cooperation projects; including projects to provide solutions and develop infrastructure for national database systems, databases of ministries, branches, and localities, projects to provide server solutions, develop AI data centers, and develop supply chains for manufacturing AI server systems.
According to the General Secretary and President, Supermicro Group is coordinating with manufacturing partners to study the possibility of expanding investment in Vietnam, making Vietnam a manufacturing center of the group in the near future.

Emphasizing Vietnam's commitment to creating favorable conditions for foreign investors in general, as well as SuperMicro Group and its partners to effectively invest and do business in Vietnam, the General Secretary and President hoped that the group would apply modern technologies, promote technology transfer and strengthen cooperation with domestic partners, thereby bringing Vietnam deeper into Supermicro's supply chain.
Sincerely thanking the General Secretary and President for taking the time to meet him, Mr. Wally Liaw said that Vietnam is a market with great potential, especially since Vietnam has policies to encourage the development of high-tech fields.
Mr. Wally Liaw added that the company has just signed a memorandum of cooperation with Sovico Group.
He introduced Supermicro corporation which is working closely with Nvidia on AI development and working with Tesla, with operations in many countries.
He highly appreciated the development and investment opportunities in Vietnam, committed to continuing to cooperate with Vietnam to support customers in particular and Vietnam in general to develop AI.
Receiving Mr. Stephen Schwarzman, Chairman, CEO and Founder of Blackstone Investment Fund, the General Secretary and President emphasized that science, technology and innovation have been identified by Vietnam as important growth drivers for the new period and therefore hoped that Blackstone would expand its investment in Vietnam in this field to connect and provide capital for technology enterprises and startups in Vietnam.
Pointing out that green growth and sustainable development are important pillars in Vietnam's development orientation in the current period, the General Secretary and President affirmed that Vietnam identifies foreign investors as having a major role in implementing the above goals, and expressed hope that Blackstone, with its network of partners and customers with influence and capacity in this field, will support Vietnam in accessing preferential credit financial sources, serving as a bridge to bring foreign investors to Vietnam to invest in green and sustainable development fields.
The General Secretary and President highly appreciated Blackstone’s plan to invest in developing energy conversion projects in Vietnam; suggested that the group discuss and coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies and partners to implement investment activities in this field.

Stating that Blackstone is the largest investment fund in the world with total assets under management of more than 1,000 billion USD, Mr. Stephen Schwarzman expressed his desire to expand investment in Vietnam.
On this occasion, he said Blackstone has joined the AI data center race, an area that Vietnam has a strategy to develop.
The Party and State are committed to supporting and creating all favorable conditions for US investors in general and Blackstone in particular to effectively and sustainably carry out business investment activities in Vietnam.
Receiving Mr. Jake Siewert, CEO of Warburg Pincus, one of the oldest and largest private equity funds in the world, the General Secretary and President welcomed and highly appreciated the effective investment and business cooperation activities of Warburg Pincus globally in general and in Vietnam in particular in recent times.
According to the General Secretary and President, Vietnam has announced a plan to mobilize resources to implement the Political Declaration on establishing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), contributing to realizing the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
Therefore, Vietnam welcomes cooperation proposals to promote green financial capital flows and hopes that Warburg Pincus will connect and work with domestic partners to implement specific cooperation projects in areas such as renewable energy, new energy (such as green hydrogen...), upgrading grid infrastructure, carbon recovery and storage, developing an ecosystem for manufacturing energy storage equipment, improving management capacity, training human resources...
Regarding proposals related to specific projects in the tourism sector, the General Secretary and President requested Warburg Pincus to continue coordinating with domestic partners to work directly with relevant ministries, branches and localities to remove difficulties and obstacles in accordance with legal regulations.
The General Secretary and President affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam are committed to creating all favorable conditions, in accordance with legal regulations, for US investors in general and Warburg Pincus in particular to invest and do business effectively and sustainably in Vietnam.
Expressing his honor that General Secretary and President To Lam took the time to meet him, CEO Jake Siewert said that to date, Warburg Pincus has invested about 4 billion USD in Vietnam, making Vietnam the third largest investment destination in Asia for this fund (after China and India).
At the meeting, CEO Jake Siewert expressed his desire to learn more and continue to invest more in Vietnam, sincerely thanking the Vietnamese side for actively engaging in dialogue to resolve difficulties. Warburg Pincus also expressed interest in cooperation to attract green financial capital, Power Plan 8, renewable energy, etc. in Vietnam.
Also present at the meeting and accompanying the Warburg Pincus delegation, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper said his presence demonstrated the US Government's support for Warburg Pincus' activities. The US side will always maintain a positive spirit of dialogue and resolve any difficulties and problems that may arise.
Receiving Mr. Eric Schmidt, former Chairman and CEO of Google Corporation, who played a key role in developing Google into one of the largest technology companies in the world, the General Secretary and President welcomed and appreciated his decisions to support investment and expansion of operations during his leadership of the corporation, as well as his goodwill in supporting Vietnam in building development programs on AI and new technology in recent times.

According to the General Secretary and President, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Vietnam-United States continued to develop well in recent times. In particular, cooperation in science, technology and innovation has been identified as an important pillar in the relationship between the two countries.
In that spirit, the General Secretary and President asked Mr. Eric Schmidt, in his role as a consultant with a voice for Google Corporation and related partners, to continue expanding investment, business activities, research and development in Vietnam in high-tech fields, and to discuss with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to establish a research and development center, laboratory, and space for developing new technology products at the Vietnam National Innovation Center.
The General Secretary and President asked Mr. Schmidt to advise and support Vietnam in developing an ecosystem and high-quality human resources in the fields of AI and semiconductors in Vietnam, establishing a National Investment Fund for AI and Semiconductors to promote the development of this group of fields in Vietnam; supporting Vietnam in connecting with major partners in the world to develop supporting industries, develop ecosystems, research and development, and technology transfer, thereby bringing Vietnam deeper into the global value chain.
Vietnam commits to creating all favorable conditions, in accordance with legal regulations, for US investors, Google Corporation, Mr. Eric Schmidt and partners to invest and do business effectively and sustainably in Vietnam.
For his part, Mr. Eric Schmidt expressed that Vietnam can absolutely become the software center of Asia, with positive signals such as many companies with new technology and many success stories from small businesses. From Mr. Schmidt's perspective, the most optimal thing for Vietnam is to establish software companies specializing in AI.
He said many countries started by building low-level software companies. However, he believes that Vietnam is fully capable of participating in the high-end segment, using AI to solve big problems in the fields of education, health or the environment.
He expressed hope that building these software companies would be included in Vietnam's development strategy and pledged to bring capital from the United States to these companies.
