Organizing a safe, healthy and practical Mid-Autumn Festival for children

To ensure that children across the country can enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2023, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has sent an Official Dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities.

Organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival for children is a fine tradition of the Vietnamese people. Therefore, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs requests that provinces and centrally-run cities direct departments, branches and People's Committees at all levels to implement the following contents.

First of all, allocate funds from the state budget; mobilize resources from organizations and individuals to visit and give Mid-Autumn gifts to children; in which attention should be paid to children in special circumstances, children from poor households, near-poor households, children in ethnic minority areas, remote areas, border areas, islands, orphans and children affected by natural disasters and epidemics.

Direct the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to preside over and coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and relevant departments, branches, organizations and units to organize Mid-Autumn Festival activities for children to ensure safety, health, practicality and economy; organize useful artistic and recreational activities, promote good and unique cultural values ​​of the nation and organize activities on a scale appropriate to the specific conditions of the locality.

Focus on protecting children's health, especially food safety and hygiene; protect children from the influence of products, toys and games that are violent, anti-educational, poor quality, toxic, dangerous and unsuitable for children.

Localities report the results of organizing Mid-Autumn Festival activities for children to the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (via the Department of Children, No. 35 Tran Phu, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi; phone: 024.37475628) before October 10, 2023.

Mid-Autumn Festival 2023 will fall on Friday (August 15th of the Lunar calendar), which is September 29th of the Gregorian calendar.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that previously, during the Month of Action for Children 2023 in June alone, the whole country built and upgraded 272 facilities serving children.

The Vietnam Children's Fund supports 17,800 children in special circumstances, with a total budget of more than 20 billion VND.

2,400 points launched the Month of Action for Children nationwide with nearly 600,000 children participating in many localities. Nearly 460,000 children received gifts worth more than 30 billion VND; nearly 14,000 children were awarded scholarships worth 9.4 billion VND.

In addition, more than 66 thousand children received free medical examination and treatment with a total cost of 7.7 billion VND...
