- In late March and early April, the Southern region is covered by cloudy weather with little sunshine. Vinh Long province has widespread unseasonal rain, but the rainfall is unevenly distributed, some places only have light showers but there are also places with rainfall reaching over 10 mm/day. The reason is that the equatorial low pressure trough is relatively strong, with its axis located near the southern provinces connecting with disturbances in the sea moving inland causing rain.

Due to ENSO changing from cold phase (La Nina state) to neutral state along with the impact of climate change, the weather in this year's dry season is somewhat unusual compared to the past few years.

The interweaving of sunny weather and erratic thunderstorms will adversely affect people's health, daily life and outdoor production activities... Unstable weather, especially sudden changes between sunshine and rain, can increase the risk of respiratory diseases, allergies and infectious diseases. People traveling on the street encounter obstacles because they forget to bring raincoats, get caught in the rain when it suddenly rains, and outdoor activities are interrupted. * How will the weather change in the coming time, sir?

- From this weekend onwards, the rain will gradually decrease and the temperature will tend to increase rapidly, with some places experiencing heat waves. Interspersed with heat waves, there will also be days with unseasonal rain in the afternoon and evening. During this period, these are only temporary disturbances, so the rain will not last long. After only 1-2 days of rain, the weather will turn good again. On hot days, the highest temperature ranges from 35⁰C to approximately 37⁰C and is not as severe as the same period in 2024.

However, there will still be periods of saltwater intrusion with not too high salinity affecting the Vinh Long area.

This year's heat wave appears late, the intensity is not too severe and there is no possibility of long periods. In the last week of April, the southwest monsoon system tends to break out, so the transitional rains will also increase. After a few transitional rains, the heat wave will end and the rainy season will likely begin around the end of April, the beginning of May - earlier than usual.
