According to information from the Sa Pa Town Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, after an urgent search, at around 7:20 a.m. on June 29, the forces found the body of the missing person at Muong Hoa stream, about 1km from the location of the disappearance.
The cause of disappearance was determined to be the victim slipping and falling into the stream.
Previously, at around 10am on June 28, Mr. Ly A Phau (Dao ethnic group, born in 1992, residing in Hoang Lien village, Ban Ho commune, Sa Pa town) crossed Muong Hoa stream at the foot of Su Pan 2 hydroelectric dam to trap birds. After that, his family and relatives could not contact him.
Upon receiving the news, the People's Committee of Sa Pa town mobilized more than 100 people from the police and military forces in combination with local people to support the family in contacting and searching for Mr. Phau in the area below the Su Pan 2 hydroelectric dam, Ban Ho hydroelectric lake.
Currently, the authorities are completing the required procedures and handing over the victim's body to the family for funeral arrangements.
