On June 27, a working delegation from the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC) led by Mr. Khong Minh Tuan - Deputy Director of the Center worked directly with the Me Linh District Medical Center and Me Linh Commune on implementing measures to prevent rabies in the area.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Me Linh commune (Me Linh district, Hanoi), immediately after receiving feedback from people about the situation of a dog (a dog raised by a household) in Lieu Tri village showing signs of continuously biting 6 people and biting a number of other dogs, the functional units promptly handled it according to instructions.

Specifically, the Commune People's Committee reported and took samples of the dog suspected of having rabies and sent them to the Central Veterinary Diagnosis Center for testing. The results showed that the dog was positive for rabies virus, and local authorities organized the destruction of the dog's body according to regulations.

As of June 27, 18 dogs around the area where the rabid dog was found were investigated and destroyed; rabies vaccinations were organized and spayed to dogs and cats that had not been vaccinated or had lost their immunity, were newly adopted, or had just grown up... according to the instructions of veterinary experts.

Me Linh commune has sprayed disinfectants to isolate the epidemic area and the entire area of ​​Lieu Tri village according to regulations.

During the inspection and working session with local authorities, Deputy Director of Hanoi CDC Khong Minh Tuan requested Me Linh District Medical Center and Me Linh Commune Medical Station to proactively strengthen rabies prevention work; promote widespread propaganda to people so that dog owners are responsible for disease prevention and comply with rabies vaccination.

Mr. Tuan emphasized that rabies is dangerous, there is no specific treatment, but it is completely preventable. Therefore, people need to take good measures to vaccinate 100% of dogs and cats according to the recommendations of the veterinary industry; pay attention to chaining, confining when raising and muzzling when going out.

When detecting cases of suspected rabies, dogs biting many people, or many dogs and cats in the area sick or dying for unknown reasons, it is necessary to immediately report to the local authorities. If bitten by a dog or cat, go immediately to a medical facility for timely preventive treatment… .
