Continue to build a strong defense zone

On the afternoon of November 7, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee held a conference to summarize 10 years of implementing Resolution 8 of the 11th Central Committee on the strategy to protect the Fatherland in the new situation.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, highly appreciated the 10 outstanding achievements of the armed forces, contributing to the overall development of the city. Emphasizing that Ho Chi Minh City is a special urban area, an important area with great development requirements, Mr. Hieu requested the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to continue to concretize the major viewpoints of Resolution 8 of the Central Committee, and deploy synchronous solutions suitable to the characteristics of the city.

In particular, the armed forces need to grasp the situation, coordinate smoothly with units to advise the City Party Committee and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to build a solid defense posture, closely combining economy with society, national defense, security and foreign affairs to create conditions for sustainable development.

In addition, Mr. Hieu suggested focusing on building a comprehensively strong city armed force, focusing on a contingent of cadres and soldiers with solid political qualities, absolute loyalty to the Party and the people, ready to receive and carry out all tasks. At the same time, building a core force in important areas, including workers and laborers working in export processing zones, industrial parks, foreign-invested enterprises, and large enterprises.

Mr. Hieu said that the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee suggested that in 2023, it is necessary to organize a large-scale exercise to raise awareness, vigilance, and sense of responsibility of the forces as well as prepare solutions to build a solid defense area.
