In the early morning of August 26, heavy rain caused a serious landslide on Highway 15C, passing through Tao village, Trung Ly commune (Muong Lat). A large amount of soil and gravel from the hill flooded down and blocked the road, making it impossible for vehicles to pass through this location.

At 6:00 a.m. on August 26, because they did not know that a landslide had blocked National Highway 15C, many people and vehicles traveling towards the center of Muong Lat district or Quan Hoa district had to stop, causing a long traffic jam. Fortunately, the landslide did not affect the houses of households in Tao village, Trung Ly commune.
