Tien Yen is one of the localities with the most heavily damaged forest area in storm No. 3 with over 20,000 hectares, of which nearly 3,000 hectares are protective forests and over 17,000 hectares are production forests. To overcome the consequences, Tien Yen district has actively directed units, localities and people to clean up, collect, do a good job of forest fire prevention and control (PCCR) and prepare seedlings for planting the new crop.

Tien Yen Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. is currently managing nearly 7,000 hectares. In the recent storm No. 3, nearly 4,600 hectares of the unit's forest were affected, with damage of over 200 billion VND, including the forest area planted with budget capital, replacement forest planting capital of nearly 1,400 hectares, and production forest area of over 3,000 hectares. The level of severe damage covers a large area, with ages ranging from 1 year to nearly 30 years.
Immediately after the storm passed, taking advantage of favorable weather, the company proactively hired a consulting unit to inventory and assess the extent of damage, and at the same time arranged a workforce to collect the collapsed production forest area, clean up the scene, and focus on doing a good job of fire prevention and control. For the protective forest area, after the issuance of Decree 140/2024/ND-CP dated October 25, 2024 of the Government on liquidation of planted forests using the State budget, the company is also speeding up the completion of liquidation procedures to promptly carry out cleaning and remedying the damage. At the same time, in order to support people in collecting and reducing damage, the company has doubled the production capacity of the wood chip factory, processing an average of about 400 tons of acacia per day. At the same time, nearly 3 million seedlings including high-quality lim and acacia are prepared for the new forest planting season, soon re-greening bare hills.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tuan, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Tien Yen Forestry One Member Co., Ltd., said: We are trying to complete the planting of protective forests by the end of the year to protect the ecological environment and water resources. Regarding production forests, we are actively preparing seedlings and clearing and harvesting the remaining usable areas, preparing the site to ensure sufficient conditions for planting new forests. It is expected that we will be able to replant about 60% of the forest area affected by storm No. 3 in the spring crop of 2025.

According to initial statistics, Tien Yen district has over 20,000 hectares of forest damaged in storm No. 3, affecting 4,283 households, units and forestry companies. Currently, the district is actively implementing the work of reviewing, inventorying, evaluating and appraising. Up to now, the appraisal has issued support decisions for 696 households with nearly 2,000 hectares, with a support budget of nearly 7 billion VND.
Ms. Hoang Thi Hanh (Tenh Po village, Phong Du commune) said: My family suffered damage to about 3 hectares of acacia. Currently, along with focusing on handling the forest scene, we are also doing a good job of forest fire prevention and control, and sowing seedlings. Up to this point, my family is producing more than 200,000 acacia trees to serve my family and local people in reforestation.

Ms. Do Thi Duyen, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tien Yen district, said: Currently, the district is still directing localities to continue to speed up the progress of reviewing and counting the damaged forest area, to soon issue a decision to support people to reduce difficulties. At the same time, create conditions for people to carry out clearing and preparing the land for planting new forests. Along with the support policies of the State and the province for households planting damaged forests, the district also has its own support policies, to help people have conditions to restore forestry production. In particular, the district is directing specialized departments to coordinate with localities to review and evaluate poor and near-poor households with damaged forest areas, mobilizing socialized resources to support people with seedlings to soon restore the damaged forest area. After reviewing, appraising and evaluating, the whole district has 57 near-poor households and households that have just escaped poverty supported with seedlings with a total of over 536,000 trees, total area of 156 hectares.
