In recent days, the moon cake shop of Mr. Phuong Trien Phong's family (45 years old) located on Pham Phu Thu Street (District 6, Ho Chi Minh City) has become famous on social networks. Before it opened for sale, customers flocked to it.
Some people said they had to wait more than an hour to buy bread, and at times the shop had to temporarily stop selling to focus on producing new bread to meet the sudden increase in customer demand.
Mr. Phong's family's moon cake shop is called by social networks the "hottest" bakery this year's mid-autumn season in Ho Chi Minh City when customers flocked to it for many weeks.
Before 7am, although the bakery had not opened yet, there was already a long line of people waiting to buy moon cakes at this shop. Because of the large number of people coming here, the authorities were present to maintain security and order.
Customers pass around the menu to choose the right cake.
Ms. Vy (living in District 6) said she is a regular customer at this bakery because it is near her house. However, this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, this is the first day she came to buy cakes and was surprised by the large number of people coming to buy. "Previous years were not this crowded, this year is too crowded!", the customer commented.
As noon approached, more and more people came. When the shop started selling, customers jostled to buy moon cakes. In the line of people waiting for their turn to buy cakes, Ms. Van (26 years old, living in District 5) said that this was the first year she bought cakes at this shop. She learned about the shop when it became famous on social media. "This is the 10th time this Mid-Autumn Festival I've lined up to buy, mainly for my relatives. The previous times, the longest line was more than 1.5 hours. The wait was long, but the quality of the cakes was worth it," she said.

Ms. Van (wearing glasses) said that the cakes at the shop are not too sweet, they suit her taste and she will continue to buy them in the following years.
The staff in the shop have been busy since morning.
Sharing with Thanh Nien this morning, September 15, shop owner Mr. Phong said that in his family's decades of selling moon cakes, he has never witnessed a scene of customers crowding the shop like this year. In the morning, he sold out of cakes by noon, had to temporarily close the shop to make it until about 6pm to reopen for sale.
"I've worked here for 6 years, and there has never been a year with as many customers as this year," an employee working here shared.
Mr. Phong's family's moon cake shop was originally a Western cake shop (cookies, cakes...) founded by Mr. Phong's father, Mr. Phuong Diem Thuan, before 1975.
Since 1987, the shop has started making moon cakes with the flavor of the Chaozhou people. His family learned the moon cake making profession from a famous bakery in Cho Lon, which no longer exists. Mr. Thuan has 10 children, 3 of whom live abroad, so the bakery is currently inherited by his other children, with Mr. Phong, the youngest son, as the main manager.
