Enjoy the famous Banh Xeo dish in Ho Chi Minh City that was "named" by Michelin

Recently, the banh xeo restaurant at 46A Dinh Cong Trang, Tan Dinh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City has officially entered the Bib Gourmand category of Michelin Guide 2024.

Bib Gourmand is a category for restaurants and eateries with good food quality and reasonable prices.

It is known that Banh Xeo 46A restaurant has existed for three generations and is always loved by diners in Ho Chi Minh City and domestic and foreign tourists because of the quality of delicious and attractive dishes.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thuy, owner of the banh xeo restaurant, shared that this dish has been around since 1945. At that time, the restaurant's space in the early days was quite simple, built on an empty plot of land next to a wall, with a roof to block the sun and a few wooden tables and chairs.

After 1975, Mrs. Thuy's family bought and renovated the restaurant. The original menu only had 3 dishes: banh xeo, grilled beef and pig ears.

Later, Ms. Thuy's mother and aunt added many new dishes to meet customers' needs.

A banh xeo at the restaurant is about 25cm in diameter and includes shrimp, meat, bean sprouts, green beans and onions. The special dish has peeled shrimp and eggs.

The restaurant's shredded chicken salad, spring rolls, pork skin rolls, spring rolls... are also rated as delicious and worth trying.

The price of each special pancake is 180,000 VND, the regular pancake is 110,000 VND.

The restaurant's frying area is located right at the beginning of the alley. This allows diners to watch the cakes being made while eating.

The restaurant pays special attention to the quality of the food, so each stage is divided into different people. The vegetable washing stage will be divided into specific types of vegetables, and the meat preparation stage will be divided into 2 people and 1 person will prepare shrimp.

It takes the chef about 7 minutes to make a pancake.

Coming to Ho Chi Minh City for the first time and having the opportunity to enjoy this famous dish, Ms. NL (28 years old), living in Hanoi, said that this is a must-try dish when coming to the city named after Uncle Ho.

Sharing with reporters from The World and Vietnam Newspaper, she said: "The pancakes here are delicious, suitable for the taste, the shrimp are big and fresh. I am most impressed with the special pancake dish. The pancakes are coated with a layer of very fragrant eggs, eaten with sweet and sour dipping sauce is the best."

As for Ms. LC (50 years old) from Hai Phong, the banh xeo restaurant is her "best seller" to invite partners and colleagues on business trips to Saigon.

"The restaurant's menu is rich, so this is the ideal choice for our group every time we come to Ho Chi Minh City. The restaurant gives me an authentic culinary experience at an affordable, attractive price," said Ms. LC.
