(Fatherland) - On the afternoon of November 6, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and a delegation from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism had a working session with the Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Committee, China. Mr. Ha Van Sieu - Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and Mr. Chu Mau - Deputy Director of the Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Committee chaired the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ha Van Sieu, on behalf of the delegation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, thanked the leaders of Chongqing city and the Chongqing Culture and Tourism Development Committee for supporting Vietnam in preparing the tourism promotion and cultural exchange program during the visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Chongqing.

Vietnam and Chongqing have had a good and regular cultural and tourism exchange relationship. In 2018, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism successfully organized the Vietnam Tourism Promotion Conference in Chongqing, attended the Mekong-Lancang Tourism Cities Cooperation Conference; in 2023, sent officials to Chongqing to attend a tourism human resource training course. In 2019, the number of Chinese tourists to Vietnam reached 5.8 million, of which the number of tourists from Chongqing accounted for a large number. After the COVID-19 pandemic, Chinese tourists are gradually recovering, especially in 2023 - 2024 with strong growth.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Chu Mau - Deputy Head of the Chongqing Culture and Tourism Development Committee warmly welcomed the delegation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam to visit and work in Chongqing. Next, Mr. Chu Mau introduced the main features of Chongqing tourism - known as the mountain city with large rivers flowing through, the city is considered a heroic city, cuisine, hot springs. He hopes that in the coming time, there will be more specific programs and activities to promote cultural and tourism exchanges between Chongqing and Vietnam. Along with that, there will be cooperation between Chongqing's destinations and Vietnam's destinations so that people of the two countries have favorable opportunities to exchange with each other, enhancing their understanding of each other.

Regarding international cooperation, Mr. Tran Nhat Hoang, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the Vietnam - China relationship has never been as good as it is now and the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism always wants to strengthen cooperation in culture, sports and tourism with China as well as Chinese provinces/cities. Therefore, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is always ready with mechanisms and policies to facilitate cooperation with Chongqing city. Therefore, the Department of International Cooperation will continue to be a connecting channel between Chongqing and Vietnamese units such as the Vietnam - China Cultural Exchange Club, the Vietnam - China Friendship Association, to organize cultural and artistic exchange activities and activities to promote and promote Chongqing tourism in Vietnam in the coming time.

Also at the meeting, representatives of Vietnamese localities such as Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa, and Da Nang had further discussions on tourism development potential and new local tourism products to introduce to Chinese tourists in general and Chongqing city tourists in particular. At the same time, they hoped to promote air connectivity between Vietnamese destinations and Chongqing and vice versa in the coming time.

At the end of the working session, in addition to the extensive cooperation commitments, Mr. Chu Mau proposed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism support and actively mobilize Vietnamese cities to participate in the Mekong-Lancang Tourism Cities Alliance, which currently has a Secretariat located in Chongqing; he also proposed that the Vietnamese side consider opening a Tourism Promotion Office in Chongqing or in the immediate future have a mechanism to coordinate with businesses to open the above Office using socialized resources...
