Thua Thien Hue: Organizing Digital Transformation Week

This event is part of a series of activities responding to the National Digital Data Year under the direction of the Prime Minister.

Digital Transformation Week - Hue 2023 with more than 20 diverse activities taking place in December 2023, of which the most important and outstanding activities take place on December 14, 2023. The event attracted more than 2,000 attendees representing central agencies, ministries, branches, state management agencies, associations, organizations, prestigious business groups across the country, and representatives of media agencies. More than 50 leading experts and speakers on digital transformation, leaders of agencies and businesses shared and discussed.

The event is expected to not only bring useful information, experience, and solutions on creating and exploiting digital data, but also promote connections and cooperation between localities in the region, promote cooperation between businesses and localities in digital transformation, exploiting digital data to create breakthroughs in socio-economic development in Hue in particular and the entire central economic region.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee said: "It can be affirmed that the effective management and exploitation of data sources has brought Thua Thien Hue province many practical benefits: people and businesses have easier access to information sources such as cadastral maps, planning maps, personal health data, weather information... through the Hue-S mobile application; domestic and foreign investors save more time when searching for information on socio-economic indicators; the digitized heritage and cultural system has helped the storage to be carried out in a more scientific manner while effectively serving the restoration and embellishment work and bringing new tourism products and new experiences to visitors from all over the world..."

The Government is strongly promoting regional economic linkages to share resources and take advantage of each locality's advantages, thereby promoting socio-economic development in the region. In January 2022, the Politburo issued Resolution 06-NQ/TW on planning, construction, management and sustainable development of Vietnamese urban areas by 2030, emphasizing the strong development of sectoral and regional linkages and multi-dimensional connectivity advantages of urban areas. In November 2022, the Politburo issued Resolution 26-NQ/TW on the development of the North Central and Central Coast regions by 2030.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, Vietnam Economic Institute, commented: “Regional institutions in the medium-term development stage have not been fundamentally successful, for three reasons: Regions lack motivation and power to act independently; Lack of operational resources and resources to ensure linkage and coordination; Regional governance institutions are not suitable, ineffective, and inefficient. Economic regions need a new linkage approach based on digital platforms, digital linkage, digital technology, and high technology.”

Experts believe that digital data needs to play a pioneering role in linking and connecting, acting as a tool and foundation for promoting the connection and development of other industries and fields, especially: transportation, energy, information technology, digital economy, urban areas, human resource training, tourism and services, logistics, environment and climate change adaptation.

Therefore, responding to the National Digital Data Year of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Hue Digital Transformation Week 2023 takes the theme "Creating digital data - promoting regional connectivity", aiming to call for the cooperation of localities from the highest levels of leadership, to leaders of departments, branches, and businesses".

In addition to the thematic conference sessions, Digital Transformation Week - Hue 2023 also organized technology exhibition activities from 30 booths displaying Hue's digital transformation utilities, digital transformation solutions from large technology enterprises such as Viettel, BKAV, FPT, Mobifone... and innovative startup technology ideas and products attracting 3,000 exhibition visits from a large number of officials, civil servants, public employees, people, students, and youth in Thua Thien Hue province.

Also within the framework of Digital Transformation Week - Hue 2023, the Final Round of the Future Innovation Award - VietFuture 2023 was also organized by VINASA for the first time under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Technology and hosted by the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province. The program attracted 74 projects from 27 colleges and universities nationwide to compete.
