Ms. Nguyen Thi Ai Van, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province, said that in the past 2 years, the whole province has supported the construction and repair of over 5,000 houses for poor and near-poor households facing housing difficulties, with a total cost of over 326 billion VND.
In the mountainous district of A Luoi alone, support has been provided for the construction and repair of 3,750 houses from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, the National Target Program for Economic and Social Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, and from other mobilized sources.
In 2024, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels from the province to the grassroots level allocated over 22 billion VND from the "For the Poor" Fund to support the repair and construction of 4 civil works; build new and repair 550 Great Solidarity houses; support production capital for 266 poor households; support sudden difficulties for 11,063 poor households; support 315 poor people for medical treatment,... Those results have contributed to ensuring social security in the province, reducing the poverty rate of Thua Thien - Hue province in 2023 to 2.27% and A Luoi district escaped from poverty in 2024.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ai Van, in the peak month of "For the Poor" in 2024, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province hopes that the whole society, businesses, social organizations and individuals will join hands to act together, promote the spirit of mutual love and support to the poor not only in the short term but also build a foundation for them to rise up and have a stable and sustainable life. Continue to support and help the poor, support the "For the Poor" Fund and complete the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Thua Thien - Hue province in 2025.
At the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ai Van said that the storm and flood that occurred in September 2024 caused severe damage to many northern provinces and cities. Immediately after that, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province and the Provincial Relief Mobilization Committee advised the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Secretary of the Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Party Committee to call for support from agencies, units, organizations, businesses, individuals, and philanthropists inside and outside the province.
After 1 month of appeal (from September 10 to October 10, 2024), more than 36.5 billion VND and more than 15 tons of goods and essential necessities were received and promptly transferred to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the northern provinces and cities to support and help people overcome the consequences of storms and floods and soon stabilize their lives.
