On the morning of July 3, in Seoul, South Korea, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the direct flight and welcomed the 15 millionth passenger on the Vietnam - South Korea route of Vietnam Airlines.
Vietnam Airlines marked the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam-Korea direct flight, welcomed the 15 millionth passenger and signed agreements with partners within the framework of the official visit to Korea by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation. Emphasizing the importance of the Vietnam - Korea relationship, the Prime Minister said that through this visit, he clearly saw five highlights in the bilateral relationship: Political trust; human connection; economic integration; cultural similarities; and the shared aspiration to build a strong, prosperous country with happy and prosperous people. Economically, Korea is currently Vietnam's number one partner in terms of FDI investment (reaching 87 billion USD), second in terms of development cooperation and third in terms of trade (reaching 76 billion USD in 2023). In particular, cooperation in tourism and culture is a bright spot. Korea has risen to become the number 1 market sending visitors to Vietnam. In 2023, the number of tourists between the two countries reached more than 4 million; in the first 5 months of 2024, it reached nearly 2.2 million, an increase of 9% over the same period in 2019, the year before the pandemic.Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that this event marked a new milestone for the aviation industry of the two countries, and was also a testament to the deep and close cooperation between Vietnam and Korea over the past decades - Photo: VGP/Nhat Bac
There are currently about 280,000 Vietnamese people in Korea, 200,000 Koreans in Vietnam, and 80,000 Vietnamese-Korean multicultural families. "The more the relationship between the two countries develops, the closer the neighbors become, the more they travel, and the more they travel, the closer they become. Of these, the most popular means of transport is still aviation because it is fast, convenient, and has reasonable costs. Aviation plays an important role as a bridge to promote increasingly strong relations between the two countries, and bring people between the two countries closer together," said the Prime Minister.During Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to South Korea, Vietnam Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with Korean Air and four travel companies in South Korea - Photo: VGP/Nhat Bac
In fact, aviation has played a good role as above and in the new context, especially with the development of Vietnam - Korea relations, airlines, including Vietnam Airlines, need to provide more diverse, complete, and comprehensive aviation services at competitive prices, through restructuring of management, human resources, organization, finance, and constantly improving service quality... The Prime Minister called on businesses, citizens of the two countries, and those who need to travel between the two countries to choose the most competitive aviation services, in which Vietnam Airlines needs to try harder to win the sympathy and love of customers and coordinate better and more effectively with other airlines, and compete fairly. The Prime Minister hopes and believes that Vietnam Airlines will become more mature, stronger, more competitive, serve customers better, bring benefits to the airline and to customers, and contribute to promoting the relationship between the two countries.Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines, spoke at the ceremony - Photo: VGP/Nhat Bac
