Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that along with the North-South high-speed railway project from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, the Government and agencies are researching to deploy the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho railway line and extending it all the way down to Ca Mau.
On the morning of December 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the National Assembly Delegation of Can Tho City met with voters of Co Do district after the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly.
At the meeting, the Can Tho City National Assembly Delegation reported the results of the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly and some activities of the National Assembly Delegation at the Session. At the same time, they listened to, received, and explained the opinions and recommendations of voters.
Voters highly appreciated the important and comprehensive achievements in all fields of the country in 2024; the drastic, synchronous and effective direction and administration of the Government in operating and managing the socio-economy and taking care of people's lives. Voter Nguyen Tuan Sang (Thoi Huu hamlet, Dong Hiep commune) expressed his emotion at the image of the Prime Minister directly coming to Lang Nu (Lao Cai) to promptly direct the response, overcome the consequences and together with local authorities at all levels, share the loss and difficulties with the people.
“Through monitoring the situation of socio-economic development management of the country in 2024 and in the past time, I support, acknowledge and appreciate the proactiveness and timeliness of the Government, especially the leading role of the Prime Minister in regulating, managing the socio-economy and taking care of people's lives. The Prime Minister personally went to Lang Nu to promptly direct the response, overcome the consequences and, together with local authorities at all levels, share the loss and difficulties with the people,” said voter Nguyen Tuan Sang.
Voters were also pleased with the system of vertical and horizontal expressways in the Mekong Delta that are under construction with a total length of more than 1,000 km, gradually taking shape. The Prime Minister also regularly organizes inspections and timely urges. In addition, voters also raised a number of proposals and recommendations related to investment and construction of expressways, railways; and development of industrial parks (including VSIP Vinh Thanh industrial park in the area).
Voters proposed and recommended the implementation of the project of the Center for Linking Agricultural Production and Processing; policies on vocational training, creating conditions for shifting labor from agriculture to industry and services; implementing the Project on sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta; ensuring water security for the West Hau River area and preventing flooding and landslides for Can Tho City; continuing to effectively implement policies to further improve the lives of ethnic minorities...
Speaking at the meeting with voters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh further discussed with voters of Can Tho City some main contents about the highlights of the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly; the summary of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee "Some issues on continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined, effective and efficient"; direction and administration work, the socio-economic situation in 11 months of 2024 and tasks and solutions in the coming time.
The Prime Minister hopes that people will continue to strongly support the major policies and guidelines of the Party and State, including the streamlining of the apparatus and creating high unity within the Party and among the people for implementation.
Regarding the voters' proposals and recommendations, in addition to the feedback from leaders of ministries, branches and localities, the Prime Minister responded to some specific issues and said that the Government will continue to direct the implementation of major projects on rapid and sustainable development of the Mekong Delta, such as projects to prevent landslides, subsidence and saltwater intrusion; the project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice; human resource training; implementation of the Project of the Center for Linking Agricultural Production and Processing; implementation of major projects on developing transport infrastructure, including highways, airports, large seaports, inland waterways and railways.
Regarding railways, the Prime Minister said that along with the North-South high-speed railway project from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, the Government and agencies are researching to deploy the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho railway line and extending it all the way down to Ca Mau.
The Prime Minister emphasized that, along with the Central Government's policies and guidelines and the participation of ministries and branches, localities need to be more active and proactive, promote more strongly the spirit of self-reliance and listen to people's opinions to implement the above-mentioned tasks and tasks with the highest results, meeting the expectations of compatriots and voters on the development of Can Tho City, the Mekong Delta and improving the material and spiritual life of the people.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented 20 gifts to families of war invalids and martyrs, Catholic families in Co Do district and presented 30 Great Solidarity houses to poor and near-poor households in Can Tho city.
