This afternoon (January 14), Permanent Vice Chairman of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Dung said that the Prime Minister has decided to establish Ninh Co Economic Zone (EZ); with an area of ​​13,950 hectares, located in the two coastal districts of Nghia Hung and Hai Hau of Nam Dinh province.

The establishment and construction of Ninh Co Economic Zone aims to maximize the advantages of high-quality human resources, location advantages in connecting economy, trade and services with neighboring areas; closely combining investment attraction, economic development with ensuring national defense, security, preserving and promoting the value of marine ecosystems, historical and cultural relics in the region.

Ninh Co is oriented to become a comprehensive, multi-industry, multi-functional coastal economic zone, a breakthrough development focus of Nam Dinh province with synchronous infrastructure, favorable investment and business environment; a developed marine economic center with the function of supporting and supplementing other coastal economic zones, creating development momentum for the Red River Delta, the economic belt of the Gulf of Tonkin; creating jobs, training and improving the quality of human resources, increasing income for people.

The roadmap and development plan of Ninh Co Economic Zone is divided into 3 phases, in which phase I (from 2024 - 2026) will complete the steps of planning, construction and investment in a number of important projects; phase II (from 2026 - 2030) will continue to synchronously complete infrastructure, especially urban, industrial and service infrastructure; phase III (after 2030) will complete the synchronous and modern economic and social infrastructure system.

Ninh Co Economic Zone is expected to bring many socio-economic benefits when put into operation with an average economic growth rate of 14-15%/year in the period 2026 - 2030.

By 2030, this economic zone is expected to contribute 25 - 30% of the province's GRDP; total state budget revenue will reach about 3,000 billion VND; the occupancy rate of industrial parks in the economic zone will reach 74 - 75%; create jobs for nearly 55,000 workers; ensure the ecological environment, especially the coastal ecosystem; firmly ensure national defense and security in the economic zone and neighboring areas; contribute to raising the urbanization rate of the province to 45.6%.
