Belarusian Prime Minister to officially visit Vietnam

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of December 4, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Roman Golovchenko will pay an official visit to Vietnam from December 6-9 at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh.

The official visit to Vietnam by Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko took place in the context of Vietnam - Belarus relations, inheriting the traditional friendship and good multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union, developing well in many aspects, maintaining regular delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels.

Economically, Vietnam and Belarus have many complementary strengths. Vietnam exports to Belarus aquatic products, natural rubber, wooden furniture, textiles, footwear, rice, cashew nuts, peanuts, pepper, spices, tea, canned vegetables, pharmaceuticals, computers, etc.; imports milk and dairy products, fertilizers, machinery, equipment, auto parts, tractors, trucks, chemicals, etc.

Bilateral trade turnover in the first 9 months of 2023 reached 46.42 million USD.

When the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, the two countries coordinated closely in responding to the epidemic. In the early stages, Vietnam donated medical masks to Belarus. In December 2021, Vietnam and Belarus exchanged medical equipment and supplies. The two countries recognized each other's vaccine passports.

In the field of education and training, Belarus has helped Vietnam train many highly qualified officials and experts. Scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries has been maintained and developed, scientific and technological organizations of the two countries have cooperated closely, many projects have been implemented and achieved good results.

The two sides also cooperate closely and support each other at the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other international forums and organizations.

Belarus supports Vietnam's candidacy for the United Nations Economic and Social Council for the 2016-2018 term, the International Law Commission for the 2017-2021 and 2023-2027 terms, the Intergovernmental Committee for the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage for the 2022-2026 term, the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term, the Council of the International Organization for Standardization for the 2023-2025 term, etc.
