On April 15, at the headquarters of the Chilean Ministry of Agriculture, Ambassador Nguyen Viet Cuong met and worked with Minister of Agriculture Esteban Valenzuela.

The meeting aimed to review the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on agricultural cooperation between the two countries signed during the official visit to Chile byPresident Luong Cuong in November 2024, and to discuss directions for enhancing cooperation in the coming time.

Chile and Vietnam are both major agricultural exporters with complementary products. At the meeting, the two sides agreed to strongly promote specific cooperation activities such as supporting market opening for key agricultural products, processed foods, and exchanging experiences and experts in the fields of high-tech agriculture and green agriculture.

Ambassador Nguyen Viet Cuong suggested that the Chilean side support Vietnamese enterprises in participating in trade fairs in Chile, creating conditions for Vietnamese goods - especially coffee, cashew nuts, tuna, and processed foods - to reach local consumers more effectively through domestic distribution systems.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of cooperation in the field of applying new science and technology in agricultural production.

Minister Esteban Valenzuela expressed his support for cooperation proposals and the linking of agricultural activities with environmental protection and the development of ecological agriculture, which are areas where the two countries can cooperate extensively within the framework of the signed MOU.

The working session is an opportunity for both sides to review progress and propose measures to implement commitments, bringing agricultural cooperation between Vietnam and Chile into greater depth, effectiveness and substance.
